Where to start? Hmmm...
Well, I learned you can really trust your brakes.
Friday I started out with a 3:09 down to 2:58 in first practice.
Second practice got in to low 50's.
In GTU my 1st lap was shit untill I hooked up with some peeps and found out you can go in deeper than I had thought.
Next thing I know, everything I remembered from "Back-in-the-day" came back to me.
Not to mention that I had been there last year and had previouse track knowlage.
By the third lap I was picking peeps off left and right going in WAAAAY DEEP in the turns ass end floating around hitting my marks and making them stick. YEEEE HAWWW............. What a ride. Oh, BTW, by this time I had made my mark with 2:42's. WOW...
I have to admit, T5 has my ass. For some reason all weekend I kept playing in the dirt and whipty-do's so much up that hill. Dayum... T5 sucks.
On Saturday I left my first stripe coming out of the bend. I gotta say, peeps with dirt experience have got it made cause I was learning how to ride dirt on asphalt and it was a BLAST... Now if I can only learn how to "Back-it-in".
Next thing I know I'm hanging with the top 2 and dicing with #2 really close.
In one race I had the scare of my life. I thought I was D E A D.
I was flying down into T5 when someone decided to check-up early and I had nowhere to go.
Going way fast following this guy and the next thing I know, he checks, I slam on the brakes trying to get around him and then I just manage not to ass-pack him I punched his ass with my right hand nailing my brake sending my back end up in the air front end slapping and me getting bucked almost off and barely managed not crashing. FUCK... As I hit him I though I heard him yell Owww. Some how I managed to collect myself and not go down and made turn 5. When I looked back to see if he was OK, he was exiting the track.
If anyone has video of that, I want to see it. It had to look as bad as I thought it was.
I have to give thanks to Tim Hull (from KC) for the props and guidence for he is the one I was dicing with. After one race he made a commented that it took him over 2 laps to catch me. That made my day...
In the end I was hanging with him and Paul Capps (from WA) doing :38's and :39's.
BTW, A guy on a light blue bike, Terry I think his name was, we were dicing it up pretty good too.
It was a Blast man.
Sunday was good in the morning but by the end of the day I was beat dead tired and kept F'n up not to mention my clutch was giving me problems which cause me to have a really bad start and having me push too hard and miss my marks and go in the gravel in T5.
in MWSB after I had gridded, I looked back and only saw 2 bikes behind me and thought to my self, "This is going to be easy..." Never do that... cause this kid on a triumph was ON MY ASS. Every time I looked back he was there and I kept pushing my self harder only to F'up and let him by. I did my best to hang on and was just behind him for the checkers. Damn... Oh well. Live and Learn...
Colby, I know it is racing but I should have never put you in harms way and vow never to do it to you or anyone else again. My bad...
Only thing I can say is that I was just trying to get set up for my line after I passed you.
My results;
Friday - GTU 2nd.
Sat. - MWSB 5th., MWGP 3rd, MWSS 2nd.
Sun. - MWSS 3rd., MWGP 5th.(DL), MWSB 2nd.
There is more to the story but I am still dead tired and can't remember it all.
A Big Thank You goes out to Jerry, Colby of Team WAFO and Chris for an outstanding weekend. Again, Thank You.
Now I have to give Shit to Quillman.
Hey dude, are you competing with me for the most crashes in a season???
I think you have almost caught up with me in just to weekends... WTF? :lmao:
Congrats Dion! sounds like you had a great weekend! :thumb:
Congrats Noid...nice write up!!
Great write up Dion! :thumb: It was really good to meet you and race with you. Like I said, starting in the back of the grid I knew when I saw the white helmet I was finally catching up to the leaders. I will see you at the next round. Stay safe and don't be punching other guys in the butt especially with your brake
Tim
Haha! Dion's a butt-puncher! LOL
Seriously- Noid, you were riding like a posessed man out there, bro. It was great seeing you do so well, and being there to cheer you on.
And just remember....like the Letter People said...."Ssssss......Elf" "SELF"!
Cheers,
Ski

BWAHAHAHAHA!!!!! That's awesome!
Burt- I admit I screwed the pooch in the HWSS race, but I can say it was nice to have the track all to myself! lol And to add insult to injury, I blew the clutch and quick shifter on that race. Karma's a bitch, ain't it?

Oh I have video of me sitting at BHF thinking I was in the 2nd wave when I was really in the first.... I think my brother is still pissed at me for telling him we were in the 2nd wave. hehe.... This is just the top of the barrel.... I've got mad starting line skills...
I did the same thing at HPT a few years ago. I never paid attention to anything but the green flag
Hey Dion,
Nice riding this weekend! I was right on your tail for the checkerd in Sun MWSS. If we had another 100 feet I think we would have been neck and neck. I've got some video of us from the front staight if and the start if you'd like a copy.
Hey Guys, Thanks for the props.

Thanks Man. Thats cool, I'd like to see the vid. Any chance you saw my near death experience Saturday?
Hmmm, 721, I think I remember you or at least the bike in the avitar. What are you riding? BTW, what classes were you in?
Are you comming to Gateway? And no, It's nowhere as bad as peeps play it out to be...
Dayum, I have a stellar weekend and go from Lead Amature to Expert on the forum.
I think my hat size just jumped a couple of notches...

Hey, Did you see Paul Capps in Saturdays MWSS race? When we were riding up to tech, I asked you if you took #1 and you said yes, which meant I took second. Now I get home and look at the plaque and see 3rd, so I went to the CCS results page and see 3rd with Paul C. as #1. WUWT?

I'll let you know when I get them loaded to the PC. I'm riding an 03' R6 in the MWSS and HWSS on Sat and Sunday. I've never been to Gateway... I'd love to try new tracks but money always seems to be tight LOL. Turn 5 had my ass to on Saturday during 2nd practice. I crashed out when the rear tire let go mid way through the turn =(

That is right. Capps won that race and all the others he was in. He cleared off at the starts and by the time I got up to the front most times I could barely see him.

That was a fun race! I had a liter bike launch from behind me with the first wave and hit my leg, so I missed that two other bikes that took off with the first wave. The whole race I thought I was racing for 2nd or 3rd, turns out it was 1st or 2nd. By all means please do so again. :thumb:

I need more motor to play with you on a big track. It was fun passing each other back and forth in HWSS. MWSS I didn't have much luck getting you back but bhf is going to be fun. :)

Never, ever again! LMAO!!!! It was brilliant for a while though- I thought I had the #2 spot all locked up! D'OH! And Burt- it was an episode of the Electric Company, sir. Please, get your 70's era TV shows correct? :)

That was kind of a surreal race - 3 people in a middleweight? You were riding well this weekend, so I was just hoping that without traffic in between I'd be able to hang with you. At the start I wheelied, freaked and dropped the throttle, got back into it, hit the rev limiter ... every mistake I could make, I made. Got around Matt and proceeded to harass you whenever I could - Jaws theme in my head through the carousel and all. Lucky for me you made a couple mistakes. I was screaming 'Ya mule!' in my helmet up the front straight that last time because I knew you'd been outdriving me out of 14.
Ah, well that's probably my last race until July BHF, when this 'kid' will try out Formula 40!
Good times...
danch (Am 720)
Oh, so you not a "kid" hugh? My bad... Just think of it as a complement.
Good luck in F40. It's an open class so be ready to get spanked...
Thanks for the props. You rode well too.
hey Dion... you definately had a great weekend... middle gp on sat was fun lucky i had a little motor on you cause you were out doing me on all the rest of the track... unfortunately i crashed in sunday gp or we could have diced it up again....maybe ill be down to gateway we'll see how bhf goes at the end of the month.....

At BHF?? My fav classes to race there are open classes. I've had my best finishes in GTO.
Never been there. Looks like a short track from pic. must be great for 6's.

that it is...
I've been there at least a dozen times. So I'd call it my home track more so than RA b/c I've only been there twice.

I thought the 'kid' thing was kinda funny. I definitely try _not_ to act my age!
F40 is heavyweight, not open. Mostly 600s with a couple of big twins or 750s. I still need to pick up some speed to be in the front.
Hey Danch, welcome to F/40. I raced with you at R.A. in heavyweight superbike. Now , we get to dice it up in F/40!

I hate that when it happens!
Yeah, at first I was a little embarrased, but by that point I'd figured out how to start without looping the bike thus eliminating THAT issue.
But I do have a reputation to uphold!
