Title: what to do if I move to Dayton, OH
Post by: LongDogRacing on May 02, 2009, 09:13:20 AM
hello everyone,

my wife and i are considering a move to Dayton, OH for a job opportunity.  (a place called NASIC)

which tracks would be closest to me, and which trackday/race organizations would i likely be frequenting?  for context, i currently live 2.5 hrs from Summit and 3 hrs from VIR.  CCS and WERA have a good number of dates at these venues, as do trackday orgs like cornerspeed, nesba, and marrc.

of course, racing and riding isn't the most important consideration for this move, but i've got to admit that i would be very disconcerted if my most valued outlet were to be dissolved.

any other info that you have to offer about the area in general would be appreciated.

thank you very much!

You'll be close to Mid-Ohio, Nelson Ledges, not terribly far from Beaverun, IRP, and I'm not sure exactly where Blue Grass is in KY.

I haven't spent time in Dayton for a while, but I thought the town was pretty nice.  Last I checked, I think I felt that home prices were pretty reasonable three years ago compared to Wisconsin.

Here is a nice registry of racetracks in your area:

I'm moving from the far north Chicagoland suburbs to Terre Haute, In.  We'll be neighboors.  Nearest track to me is Putnam (trackdays only), Gateway, Blue Grass.  Well I won't particularly miss BHF, I'll miss having a track 1:20 away.

Wow, that Bluegrass place looks awesome.  And only an hour and change from Dayton!
