How much oil is recommended for each front fork?
5 weight?
Sorry but I don't have any experience with the R6.
Oil level or height is a better number to know than volume. When forks are drained, you can't get all the oil out. DIfferent times you may get different amounts, so tha amount of oil can vary. The oil level affects that last third of fork travel. Higher oil level will make the forks stiffer, I find this helps controlling the amount of dive while braking. You would be better off knowing the maximum and minimum oil levels.
Anyone know?
An acceptable range would be from 125mm-105mm.
It depends on your riding style. If you like hammering on the brakes every corner, I might suggest the higher level.
Also, Don't use 5 weight oil if using the stock rebound component on a 1999-2002 R6. You will not have enough rebound damping.
I do have racetech valving in the front. Thank you for the input. Anyone else want to add their 2 cents?
Chris
Go to RaceTech.com, fill in the info for your bike, and you can get their recommended oil level.
OR, just call race tech, talk to them about your setup, and ask about oil levels.
