Title: Newbee Needs Help !!!!
Post by: gsxrchick on February 15, 2009, 03:55:05 PM
Hi, hoping someone can answer a tire question for me - I'm new to CCS and was reading the rulebook in regards to tires regs.  Where is it ok to use slicks ??  The only section I could find where it said must use DOT's was under Supersport.  Other than Supersport can the slicks be used ??

Correct, slicks can be used everywhere except Supersport.

Formula 40 is Supersport.

The rulebook says:

6.7.1 All machines legal for Lightweight SuperSport, Lightweight Superbike, 125 Grand Prix or Thunderbike are legal for Lightweight Formula 40.
6.7.2 All Formula 40 machines must meet the requirements of Lightweight Grand Prix or Heavyweight SuperBike.

Doesn't that mean that slicks are legal in F40?

Yes they are.

F40 used to use Heavyweight Supersport, so those bikes had to use DOT.

If you're running in the women's class you'll have to run DOTs since it's Supersport rules.

Oh ok, I'll have to look into the women's class to, my first event is going to be in Topeka in April, would be cool if they had a women's class :)  I'm assuming the schedule will come out after Daytona sometime ?

Ok, got one more for someone :)  I looked at the schedule for Topeka and on the pre entry it states that the practice fee is $100 if there is a practice - is practice considered in this case on that Friday ?  If so I couldn't find anything out about whether there is a practice for this weekend or not - how can you tell if there is going to be or not ??   Thanks in advance for any help - I'll get this figured out eventually :)

You will always get practice on a race weekend. The $100 is for Friday.

You get practice on the weekend but many will run the Friday practice because most of the time it is one or two sessions that you will get on a raceday.
