Post by: Scotty Ryan on February 08, 2009, 03:25:49 AM
QuoteAnother threadjack, this factory contingency stuff is BS.  Who cares how old the freaking bike is, got to keep the new bikes selling......  bastards.

Baba bouy Baba Bouy Scotty Ryan is my hero.....

I don't want to thread jack - So here it is:

Thanks Dustin, But I agree - Buell pays back like 7 years. Maybe I should have gotten one like I was thinking....

Dude, if you can win on a bike that is old, you should get money.  If you can win on a bike that is technologically "not as good", and heavier, you should get money.

You might say that's because they want AMA to be running new bikes every year, that's what people see.  On the club level, why not have 5 year old bikes eligible for contingency.  Im not expert or anything but I am looking to the future, I think the financial burden of buying a new bike almost every year is too great for me.  For you experts, wouldn't it be easier to get that bike dialed in for a couple years before you have to start back at square one?

Who's the financial burden on?

The manufacturers decide by choice to offer contingency money.  If they don't sell bikes, there's no profit.  No profit, well, contingency has to be cut.  The manufacturers bear a higher burden than even on expert road racer that buys three or more bikes to race in one year, every year.

And, yes, they do want the newer models to be raced.  Doesn't that make sense?  Manufacturers use the results of racers on these bikes to promote their performance.

Buell is certainly unique in their size (small), and that their one line (the XB series) hasn't seen many dramatic changes for so long.  Sure, similarly, the SV650 has remained similar.  Either way, Buell has made their choice.

Contingency Money doesn't grow on tree just so you know!

Put yourself on their side and pay out to the racers out of your pocket.

They on not trying to screw anyone over like some people think. They are running a business. They are not obligated to pay anyone! Just be lucky they are and that you have a chance to make money. By the way, what are you doing to advertise your manufactures product anyways?
