Title: Dunlops
Post by: MUZ720 on January 15, 2009, 05:11:36 PM
Well I posted this topic in Wrenching and did nt get any help thought I would try it here, Thanks
    OK,
Looking into racing Dunlop's this coming year.  Well if I can get a  price break on them?
My view on tires has been there round and black and cost lots of money but you can't go fast without new ones and would like to run one brand this year instead of whatever i can get my hand on cheap,  so---
Can anyone enlighten me about them? Mostly what's the difference between USA made fronts and English made ones?
And whats this ntec stuff about?
Thanks

How many races did you win last year? If its your first year approaching Dunlop, and you didnt win bunches of races last year you likely wont be getting price breaks. Sadly thats the case with most tire vendors, they only have so many tires to give away, and most dont have any and its all up to corporate. Build a relationship with a vendor and if you consistently show them you can help promote them you will start gettting small breaks on tires. Dunlpop makes good tires, just like all of the rest of the current manufactures, choose what tires you like the best along with the vendor and contingency program that you trust.

Did I mention Michelin is coming out with new tires this year, and have upped their contingency once again? Ohh and they pay in cash, and within about 3 weeks.  :thumb: Give Walt a call if youre intrested in Michelins.  256 - 538 -  5906.

What kind of tires did you run last season?

i run anything I could get my hands on! Even ran one brand on the front and another on the rear.    The reason i am asking is i have a line on some USA made fronts but looking at my leftover stock the dunlops i have are english made. and was wondering if the usa tires are any good? or it does not matter?

I have always heard that the UK tires were the Dunlops to have.

The US tires are closer to street/track than race tires when compared to the UK tires.

THe UK made stuff is the best for racing.  THe US made stuff is getting better, and will probably be just as good......but for now, if you want the latest, greatest in grip and durability ...you want the ntec 211gp's.  They have stupid grip, durability and feel.  I call it "grip for dummies".  The tires literally tell you when they are going to slide, and that is what you need to be able to ride them at the limit, right?

The ntec technology slicks are amazing tires as well.  Many compounds to choose from.  Don't be fooled by the sizes.  Most 600 guys use the 190/55 ntec rear and the 195/65 slick.  THey are very close in overal diameter, so you can switch back and forth without worry about ride height changes.

There is also a 200/55 211 gp dot tire for the 1000's.  THat is very similiar in size to the 195/65 slick.  THe slicks have a little bit different feel than the 211gp dot tire.  Both are amazing. TOns of good compounds to pick from.

Call Race Tire Service for more info, tell em Dwyer sent ya.  The line for help from the tire distributors is a long one.  I suggest a squeaky clean reputation and win everything you enter.
