Title: Michelin TIRE (( WARMER SETTINGS))
Post by: catman on January 02, 2009, 07:29:30 PM
I cannot find this in search- I thought I had remembered a discussion here somewhere -a ways back- about a difference between the front and rear tire  temp settings for the short 15 min. burst before heading out to the grid- My tires are mich pilot race rear/pwr race front . I know to keep them at 135 between sprints, just wondered at what temp  I should set them seperately for my first tracktime in 3 seasons- Thanks in advance!

I've used about 140 in the front and 180 for the rear for 45 minutes on Michelins since I've had digital warmers.  If they're coming off and on, I still use the same temps.  Hotter up front can make the front greasy for two to three laps until it cools down.  So, don't go higher with that setting.  Maybe that helps you.

150 and 190 is what i use, and used at the actual Michelin tire tests. If you have digital thermostats id bump em up a tad. I have the 3-position warmers and use "med" on the front and "hot" on the rear. I use low for my rains.
Remember.. warmers are either "on" or "off" , hoter just keeps em "on" longer and cycles less.

the NEW Power 1 tires require 176F front AND rear for 30-40 minutes before you ride. Don't run warmers for more than 90 minutes.
This info was per Michelin's instructions as given to me from Frank Kinsey who attended the meeting at Las Vegas last week.

Michelin 420 slicks like some temp in them also. I use 150 front and 190 rear. I know people say don't warm rains but I normally set them at 120 and they seem to be fine.
