Glock 27
picked this up yesterday at the local Cabella's. $549.95 but wait.... If you registered for a Cabella's credit card and used it for the purchase they knocked off $100! I was looking for a preowned one for a month or so with no luck (apparently its the backup weapon of choice for most LEO's in the area) Pretty excited to find this for less than $500 new!!
Just need to get a lil grip extension and I'm good to go.
Merry Christmas to me!!
It's so...
little.
I had to go get something immediately before the election. Cabella's too. Nice used deals there at times.

Does size really matter? Honestly!

Well, it depends. If you just want to scratch someone's back or really reach out and touch someone, yes.
awww c'mon... its a .40!!!
I'm sure you will be happy with your choice. I have several Glock pistols and compete in IDPA with one as well. They are hands down the best combat pistol on the planet.
You should be a hand model.
One of mine.
You'll shoot your eye out,kid!
:lmao:
Good deal on a nice handgun. But...

I would beg to disagree - that honor should fall to workhorse commonly known as the 1911. I have several and all are absolutely wonderfully crafted machines that are based on design that has proven difficult to improve over many, many years. Sure, they only have an 8 round capacity (7+1), however, I am assured that each and every one of the 8 rounds of .45 fury will be true and hit its intended target.
George
my bro and my dad both have 1911's... I get .40 ammo free... .45 costs 35 cents to pull the trigger WWYD?
\
ps, for a "carry" weapon the 1911 is just too darn big, and I have yet to hear of a glock failing to fire...
Wabbit Season...

Why do you shoot a 45????
Because they don't make a 46!

Remember, Tim still has to be able to SHOOT the gun....
Had a custom built 1911, stolen many years ago, recently bought a Taurus PT 145 PRO, absolutely love it, small, light, accurate as hell, holds 10 in the clip and 1 in chamber. Great knock down power etc.
Fired about 500 rounds through so far, flawless, and it matches a black piece on my race bike.
Under $319

Nice! I knew a guy years ago that liked the Taurus. I was thinking about a Kimber 1911, but I ended up getting a rifle instead. I think I'd like a little carry weapon. Maybe a Mossberg 930 SPX. I think that will be my next purchase.
My little friend - It is TOO big to be a carry - But it does have some stopping power.... Got about 1500 rounds through it - No problems.... It's got a lazer grip and Night sights - Bought two clips that hold 8+1 - It's good fun - But I don't get out enough any more....

I did it again - I always forget to switch user names.... So that is My Little Friend - But Meghan does know how to shoot it - I took her to the range and started her on the .22 - I was very impressed how accurate she was with the .45... I told her that I wasn't going to come into the house late at night - Every shot was within a 3inch group - Now I just have to work on getting her to aim above the waist area... Every shot was dead on in the NUTS....
Hmmm...interesting, did you ever ask yourself why?
Mr. Reardon, That Mossberg is sweet, watched a u-tube video last week of that thing in action.
My neighbor now has 11 Kimber .45's, they have to be the finest .45 made now, all match grade etc.
Another Friend has the new Kimber 30.06 rifle, fluted barrel, very nice.
I would have opted for another 1911, but here in thugsta-ville and owning a business, Shretta's Carriage Cleaners, {shameless plug} a smaller piece was more applicable. Plus the Taurus holds 11 rounds.
Love all my guns.
Google my great, great, great, grandfather, Frank "Doc" Carver, Indians named him "spirit gun" and other names, he was champion rifle shot of the world 1877's.
Great stories of his shooting skills and some of his adventures, he raced horses against the indians, started a show with Bill Cody etc, cool stuff.

Don't want to even begin thinking about it really :)
Sometimes, thinking is highly overrated....I think.

No, because as a rational person, I could see that Obama was anointed to win the election. Is Obama pro gun? Illinois isn't. So, it was a simple decision where I could go buy what I wanted for a good price as one would expect the supply to go down and the prices for what was available up. I could sell it now for good money.
Shoots really well too. I'm actually quite surprised. Got a couple of little upgrades for it for Xmas too.
Hum. All of these cost at least a set of new tires...but being thinking about it since I'm in Tx.

Okay, that makes sense... But I don't see the supply going down anytime soon other than something fabricated by the MFRs to keep the "panic buy" pricing in effect...
So yeah, I can get on board with buying something you wanted before a spike in the market was believed (and did) to occur.

I agree, but if you go to Gander Mountain there off Bluemound, there's hardly a black rifle to be found. Doesn't matter who makes it: Colt, Bushmaster, Superior Arms, Rock River. There are none. I'm actually quite surprised myself. I'm sure there are some in some places, but as fast as they are being built, they are being bought it seems.
I wanted something, and I was lucky to find something used with nice options.
Sounds like I'm buying the best race bike for the year, isn't it? LOL!
I would like a Mossberg 930 SPX, but those can't be found either. Pretty inexpensive for what you're getting.

I love shooting those kimbers
I recently went on a gun spree
Beretta AL390 and a Smith and Wesson Sigma in 9mm. The sigma's not a outstanding gun for for personal/home defense or just a fun gun to shoot it fits the bill. Light, 16+1 Capacity, $50 cash rebate from S&W. Only thing I'm not really thrilled about is that its double action only.
Is Obama pro gun? Illinois isn't.
Are you sure it's the state or just the City of Chicago. The state recently approved the sale of the Barrett 50 cal. rifle.
I can't justify buying one since I like renting a variety at the range.
Tim-
A couple low-buck, yet fun upgrades for your G27....
Backstrap plug (fills in that void behind your magazine in the handle)
Night sights (a must in any tactical gun)
Internal laser sight (replaces under-barrel spring. use to be hokey, but is now tried and true)
finger extener
+1 mag extender
Those guns are bomb proof. Alot of people are "tupperware haters" but after owning, shooting, on duty carry, orr duty carry of Sig, Springfield, Kel-Tec, S&W, Glock, Baretta et al- I would have to say that overall, the Glock is hard to beat!
-Ski
got a guy lined up to throw the night sights on it
wasnt aware of the backstrap plug... have to look into that
not sure if I want a laser sight or not just yet, trying to get proficient without too much aid... but understand the benefit
finger extender is a must, just havent got around to getting it yet,
does the +1 mag impact concealability?
thanks ski!
timmay
Not really. But with any conceal carry weapon, it all depends on your size, and what you are comfy tucking away. Being 6'1 and 225, I can pretty much tuck a full length barrel!
The backstrap plug is super cheap, and install is as simple as popping it in. It cleans up the gun aesthetically, and makes quick mag changes a breeze, as it eliminates the possibility of snagging the round on the backstrap.
As for the internal laser, I have to admit- I'm a fan. the G27 is, let's face it, not a competition shooter. Its a small framed, high caliber handgun designed to carry well and pack a big punch. Seeing as how most gun fights fall within 10 yards or less, its a safe statement, calling it a "point and shoot" gun. With that said, the new breed internal lasers in carry guns won't help a ton with first shots, but in terms of follow up shots, they are fantastic, and can be a great aid.
Whatever you do, find a range where you can practice drawing and firing the gun. Standing at a range and shooting paper is one thing, but actually preparing yourself to use the weapon form its concealed point is an absolute must. Best case scenario, sign up for an advanced conceal carry class....you will learn a ton!
-Ski
the advanced stuff is usually a weekend thing, and I work saturdays. Squeezed off about 300 rounds at Busch so far... hey its close. I have a few dates set up to practice some firing from concealed, firing while moving etc at a friends property. Still looking for the right holster, once i have that I'll practice drawing at home before I try it with ammo. he's a LEO so i imagine he'll have a few drills for us to work on. one handed, off hand etc.
I need to just take a saturday off and get to an advanced class... my bro did it awhile back and loved it.
I hear ya on the lazer, I'm just sayin I'd rather get solid with it without the assistance, then add it later. use it as a tool vs a crutch.
Good info, thanks chris!

Has the location of some of your sales calls made a CCW a necessity Timmay? :kicknuts:
yup, we avoid the hood for the most part but especially in the winter with nights coming early... and I've always liked the idea.
i'll make sure I show it to you at the next hockey game
