Title: About 2009 Schedule...Big questions....
Post by: gixxerzoli on November 22, 2008, 05:24:35 PM
Okay guys!
I think everybody saw the new 2009 schedule.
Did you recognized Carolina, Summit, NJMP, Barber gonna be double sprints weekend.
How the CCS gonna do this????????
I mean a usual weekend is pretty tight, how the hell we gonna able to do double sprints????
Every race gona  be like 2-3 laps or what?
Other thing,...double sprints = double money for signup. So if we planned to do like 5 races on the whole weekend, we have to sign up for effin 10????? Of corse if we wanna stay in competition. Can we get discount for signup?? Or lowered entry fees?
AND tires.....yep,....of corse double too.
Who the hell can finance this all year?????

Looks like some of that all over, but I haven't had a good chance to compare it against last years schedule.

Unfortunately, complaints are the standard on schedules.

Every year is harder and harder.  Gas prices being like they were years ago will help, but only a little.

Twin Sprints events are great!
Barber has been a twin sprint race and is fun
Basically, there are no GT races on day 2
Srints aren't any shorter than normal

For me running a 1000, and only being able to run 4 classes, I like it
Racing is expensive, but no one is holding a gun to your head to run every class at every race event

I like the '09 schedule
Come on April!!

Do one day and not the next on twin sprint weekend. Or enter 3 on one day and 5 on the next. Not a big deal. Racing isn't cheap. Maybe don't do the whole schedule. I am in this for a hobby and don't plan on winning any championships. If those are your goals good luck to you!

It's like two race weekends worth of sprint races combined into one.  Check the 2008 sched/results for the twin srint events for an example.

Twin Sprints allow riders to compete in double the amount of races for one gate fee, one set of travel expenses. While we know it doesn't help on tires or fuel for the race bike, it does help with you other expenses. (Plus your first entry for the weekend is $80, then every other CCS race is $55, regardless of which day it is on.)

The only reason we tentatively have one Twin Sprint at Summit Point is to keep the Track Championship alive. (We only do those for 4 or more races at one track.) All races are regular length based on time schedule set by the contract with the facility.

NJMP is practice on Friday, then Saturday and Sunday are like the Barber schedule from 2008. It is on the Lightning Course because the only dates available on Thunderbolt conflicted with Summit Point or VIR.

Also, if we see larger than anticipated pre-entry for a particular Twin Sprint, we do have the option of reverting to a single race format as we did the first year at Barber.

You can start pre-entering now. And signing up for the banquets, bot MW and MA. If you go on ccsracing.us and look on the right hand side you will see that you can download and print the 2009 mailer. It has everything in it. License application form, pre-entry form and banquet reservation form. Even though the office will be closed for Thanksgiving I will still be getting the mail and processing it.

Wow.. tough CCS MW schedule.  Topeka and a week later RA?  I don't see too many racers being able to afford time/money to do a back to back major trip.  Mid-O is exciting but it's going to be a tough treck for anybody West or N. of Chicago.

Too bad we can't race Autobahn or that new suburban Chicago track..

Just finished a track day @ Texas World Speedway on my stock SV1K.  What a total blast - great weather and my Michelin Power Road CT stuck and wore perfectly.

You did keep it pinned through 1, right?  I remember that being a religious experience.  Really!  I saw GOD! and he told me I was a dumb ass.  By the end of the 8 hour endurance race, I was agreeing with him.

Yeah right.  At 135-140 mph, all I could do was hang on for dear life (naked SV1K).  I rolled off when I transitionned onto the very bumpy flats off the banking and just took one shift down.  Corner 1 is really fast - well over 100 mph!!  The stock sv1000k was very impressive - I expected a lot more suspension issues but it surprised the heck out of me.  I guess changing the seal and fork oil before must have helped.  The biggest surprise was the Michelin Power Roads 2CT - great traction and very little wear over 6 - 20 minute sessions.

Back to back twin sprints will be very expensive. I will miss the 4th of July RA weekend. I looked forward to that weekend more than any. Not sure what to think about the ASRA Thunderbike with the rider weight thing.

Me too.

Since Road America is May 1-3, 2009.

I don't think the bike/rider thing will impact "average" weight riders much.  Do the math once.

I'm just glad that FL and SE don't conflict at all for 2009, and MA very little...though I was surprised to see Road America moved from the 4th of July weekend, which is a bummer.

But one question: are the consecutive weeks' rounds at VIR for MA and SE actually one week apart, or is that a typo and are they supposed to be on the same weekend?  As the schedule reads currently, MA is at VIR on 9/19-20 and SE on 9/26-27, which would be a departure from the status quo.

You'll pay for it twice.  Think of it this way.  Your Saturday race is race six, let's say, of the series, and the Sunday race is race seven of the series.

It has good and bad points.

It's on the .pdf of the mailer that I downloaded from CCS on the weekend that the schedules came out (the revision note is on the bottom of the page).  I've uploaded here (just the schedule page, because the entire file was too large for an attachment).  It was probably just a typo that they've since fixed on subsequent versions.

I don't know about Topeka and MCRA, but the web addresses and/or registration forms/info for affiliates (e.g., CCS FL, South, etc) are on the CCS web site.  If you look at the mailer with the schedule, you'll see that the affiliates that have websites are listed on the schedule (page 9 of the mailer).

Thanks for pointing that out.  And I know HPT and MCRA each have their own website, but wasn't sure about the Heart of America series.  I was wondering since the Heart of America series sched is essentially the HRRS and MCRA combined if registering for the sum of those events would by default include Heart of America registration or if it needed to be done seperately.  And if so where and how that could be accomplished.  I'm sure all will be revieled in time, but you know how the off season makes you impatient.  ;)

Don't know if I can do the ASRA thing again, because it's so much travel (i.e., time and money, but mostly the travel time is a killer).  But I did include ASRA on my license app so I'll enter the ASRA rounds that are coincidental with CCS rounds in FL and SE, as I did pre-enter FL and SE also...so maybe we can go with Sean to VIR, CMP, and/or Barber, depending on his plans.
