Title: Superbike Toy Store Partner Program
Post by: Toy Store on October 10, 2008, 11:27:35 AM
We've been trying to figure out how to help everybody with their gear and apparel purchases. Originally, we looked at a traditional sponsorship or contingency but have come to the conclusion "that system's broken." And if we went that route, it would have only been for a select few riders. We have come up with a design that will include anybody that wants in. Here are the details;

Superbike Toy Store Partner Program

We've created a Partner program to help you all fund your addiction. Here's how it works;

You give people a card that has a discount code that is assigned to you only. When people use that code, they receive a 5% discount on their purchases. That also tells us that you referred a customer to us, and we then issue a store credit of 5% of the purchase price to you. You can then use the credit towards your personal product purchases, or let it build-up for larger purchases.

o Pays a 5% commission in store credit to use for anything we sell
o Receive a 10% discount for personal purchases*
o We supply you with personalized cards, stickers, and T-shirts (upon availability)

What are your thoughts on this? Good, bad, indifferent? Let me know.

Here's a link if anybody wants to sign up;http://www.superbiketoystore.com/sport/shop.php/accessories/superbike-toy-store-partner-program/p_4067.html (http://www.superbiketoystore.com/sport/shop.php/accessories/superbike-toy-store-partner-program/p_4067.html)

I've used programs very similar to this in the past and while they sound good they haven't worked out very well.

1. ridegear.com does this type of program already, currently under revision.
2. A 5% discount isn't enough to entice someone to buy from you online, and then have to pay for shipping.  They can go to their local shop and probably buy it for less with or without a discount from the local shop and not have to pay shipping. I know that the local shops in my area regularly give my 800+ members a 10% discount.

The difference is that we are already discounted 10-30%. Our everyday prices are far better than any local dealer. Besides, most dealerships don't have the expertise or service that we offer. This is a great deal that leaves me selling some product at or just below cost; there isn't any way on gods green earth local dealers are going that deep. Thanks for the input though.

Isn't Ridegear out of business?

Well, if ridegear is out of business what does that say about this type of program/marketing?  I signed up for your program and I am more than willing to give it a try and I hope it is more successful than ridegear ever was.

Well, for what it's worth, I've seen better prices from superbiketoystore than the CCS series sponsor.

That's right.  I said it.

Thanks for signing up! I truly believe this program will work if you work at it. The bottom line is this; putting a sticker on your bike by itself doesn't help anybody. But a sticker, handing-out referral cards, and actually talking to people about the Superbike Toy Store will produce results. If you direct somebody to our website by letting them know what we offer, they WILL check it out. If they need something, our prices are competitive enough for most people to make a purchase. Now add an extra 5% off and you have a winner!

The program helps everybody involved, but YOU have to get involved. We will hold-up our end of the bargain and continue to update the site with the latest products, and issue credits as earned. Lets create a partnership  :cheers:

Not to mention that it's refreshing to see someone on these forums (STS is on *MANY* forums) interacting with people and asking "how can I help you!".

It's good to have that relationship.

Now here's the catch-22..  If the answer to "how can I help you" is "provide parts faster & cheaper than anyone else with better service", you will see them go out of business.  I've seen it a dozen times if not more.

Simply put, when you're on a cell phone driving to the track and frantically trying to get a brake lever, set of boots, etc to make your weekend; you want that reliability of "I've got you covered" and then seeing that they DO indeed have you covered.  That's worth a lot.  It's a premium so to speak...

JMHO...

Is there any way to get a file of your products so that we can display them on our websites?

I have an XML feed for all of our products, but I don't think that's really what you're looking for. If you do have a website, you should checkout our affiliate program (it pays cash)! Here's a link to our affiliate program: http://www.superbiketoystore.com/sport/shop.php/affiliate-program/i_18.html

Thanks, I have 15 domains.  I see that's a banner ad only program?
I can convert an XML into PHP Data Structure and then display the products.

You can use text links as well; it's explained on the ClixGalore enrollment form.

No offense, but it seems like a lot of work just to get 5% off.  But the thought is what counts, so thanks.

You're actually getting alot more than 5% off. You're getting 10% off of our already discounted priced PLUS a 5% credit for any purchases other people make. You might want a BMC filter for 69.00. If someone buys a set of carrozzerria wheels for 1700.00, you basically get that filter for free (and still have money left). This program will not suit everybody, but it is a very deep discount.

I give you credit for thinking outside the box and being savvy with your marketing ideas.  Amway, (or Quixtar as it's now called), is a good example of the same sort of program.  I think there's a name for it....ah yes....PYRAMID MARKETING. That's my perception of it anyways.  Your partnership program may work well for those that are buying constantly, but I personally don't make purchases that often.  When I do buy I want it to be quick, easy and painless.  I don't want to have to worry about handing out cards and stickers and working my friends to do the same just so I can save a few. Don't get me wrong I like that you're thinking of ways to hook us up, but you asked for our thoughts and I'm just sharing mine.

There are other on line motorcycle shops that offer a straight 10% coupon, and it can be used on anything, even the already discounted items.  Motorcycle Superstore makes it pretty easy to find a 10% coupon, and it's twice as easy to use it.  Granted they don't carry all the same stuff you do, but they still have super low prices of which they offer an additional 10% off.  Of course Motorcycle Superstore has been around forever and a day, they've got a system that works evidently. You're trying to build your reputation and customer repoire. Keep it up though, your intentions are where they should be, and that's what counts.

It's called an "Affiliate Program" and they are all over the Internet.  Not the same as a "Pyramid Scam" at all, not even close.

Motorcycleusa.com might give you a 10% coupon to buy something but again, that is not what this is.  This gives everyone a discount plus the "affiliate" receives an additional bonus for advertising for the parent company.  The "Affiliate" does not try to recruit others to fall inline under them and then receive compensation from their sales as a Pyramid is designed to work.

Okay, Okay...you're totally right....thanks for pushing the clarification, and after looking through the original post again, it makes a little more sense.  I'm not too savvy on the whole on line affiliation thing.  People seem to like it, but maybe I'm just ol' fashion....I'll watch and learn I guess.
