Title: Engine Case Covers
Post by: clutch on March 20, 2003, 08:33:13 AM
Hey all...I am runnin my first race on May 3 and 4 in Am Unlimited at Summit on a 99 900 RR.  THe bike is ready. I know that case covers are not mandatory for this bike, but I would like to have them. NRC does not make case covers for a 98-99 RR. Is there anything I can get to cover the case just in case.  Like some type of slider, almost like a knee puck, that would cover the case and keep it from cracking? Would like to avoid possible oil spills and track delays and also keep the machine intact.  I also see that you have to have a catch can.  I have the belly pan and there are only two vent hoses for fluid that go into this can. I was told on this year bike that it is all vented back into the air box and not too worry about the catch can.  Anyone?  Thanks.

The crankcase ventilation hose can be routed to the airbox, but then the airbox drain hole must be plugged. Then a catch can is not required.

Any other hoses can be put into a catch can, but this is not required.

Is that bad to plug the air box? Or just have to check it for moisture, water ect???

You could connect a clear hose to the airbox drain hole and plug the hose. A quick onspection of the hose will tell if it needs to be drained.
