Interesting article in RRW...............

There was another article back in May about something similar also. The real question is high-speed accuracy...I believe that they've been tested successfully up to 140mph, which is enough for some tracks, but not others. Maybe this latest test has higher speed accuracy - remember, it needs to be accurate up to at least 1/1000th of a second at speeds around 200mph.
The nice advantage of something like this though is its ability to be used for a host of applications in addition to timing, such as registration, tech, grid procedures, etc, and the fact that it's cheap (<$1 per tag), so for people to buy and keep their own tags is no big deal.
Cool idea.
When I saw RFID in the title I thought they were going to start implanting the riders with locator microchips, right after we all get tattooed with a bar code for registration...

Man, you Florida racers need to catch up with the times, up here in the Midwest we were all tattoed with barcodes and had locator microchips implanted years ago! :thumb:

C'mon Rob, I'd have thought that you'd appreciate that opportunity to take "Big Red" off-roading :)
