Stoner was playing the same game as Rossi, sit and wait. Guess Rossi had enough.

Not saying it was a bad move, but he got the result he was looking for.

Enough for each other.  They were putting down record times.  You still have to have some tire at the end of the race to make a break or to try and get up front.

I believe they still had a # of laps left.   Don't think he was ready to show his hand yet.

Just my opinion, but who am I.

I believe both of them were showing all they had + a little extra. Stoner might have a faster bike, but he doesn't have the experience to match Rossi's. Even though Stoner was smoking fast, he didn't look nearly as smooth as Rossi did during the aggressive riding; he does much better out in front and alone.

How many times has Rossi crashed and come back from almost last place to finish first? I don't think Stoner has that in him yet...

Regardless of their respective hands, Rossi def outplayed Stoner and acted like it was nothing after the race.  He's got it over him on the mental games too.  :kicknuts: Stoner was openly not pleased while Rossi shrugged it off.  I sure would have liked to seen the battle rage on to the finish.

I can think of watching at least 3 races in recent years when Rossi was on top when he came back from almost the end of the pack, and I didn't even start watching every race until a few years ago...

Being 7-8-9 on the grid and going into T1 8-9-10 then working your way forward for a win isnt quite the same thing as "crashing and coming from almost last place to win the race". I could be mistaken, but im pretty sure Rossi has never crashed then came from last place (or any place for that matter) to win a race. However, it sounds like you remeber quiet a few, so please let me know which races as I must have missed them and would love to see it happen.

I can defiantly recall him crashing and coming in from the back of the pack.... one of those first 2 or 3 corner crashes on lap 1... I have no idea how to "proove" what I watched with my own eyes without going through 6 years of MotoGP racing... However if you can find me a library of all those races without breaking my checking account your more than welcome over to my place for a beer and good-ol-gp racing no matter what the outcome is !!!

According to MGP archives Rossi has never won a race that he crashed in in any class that he has raced in. He once crashed at Brno and came back to finish in fifth. After considerable checking it looks like only Scott Russell has crashed at a major modern road race (not counting endurance series) and came back from last to win. There are a number of records that indicate riders crashing and finishing well, Bayliss was noted in a rain race at Silverstone, Schwantz in the rain at Suzuka. I have video / dvd of or was at nearly every race in the 90's and beyond and I don't remember that ever happening. I saw Russell crash at Daytona and do it, that was awesome. Rossi was once gridded next to last with Biaggi at Losail and went on to win the event, but that was when he was dominating the rest of the field .  According to records availible to normal folks there is no evidence that Rossi ever did what you say he did. It didn't happen.
