Title: 1st guy to impact new air fence at Homestead
Post by: RAISING CANE on June 25, 2008, 10:22:53 PM
I'm looking for information on the Ducatti rider that hit the air fence in turn 7 during the AM GTO bringing out the red flag. He was in front of me when he ran wide in 7 and took the new air fence. I saw he was moving around when we came back by. I was wondering how he was and how he thought the fence worked? Helmets off to Homestead speedway and the ccs riders and staff that worked hard on bring this important safety equipment to our track. I for one go thru T7 with a little more ease of mind and a little more throttle now.

and the thread on the CCS site right here http://www.ccsforum.com/index.php/topic,20171.0.html
Not sure if some of you knew but Expert rider and #1 SE plate Sean Dwire spearheaded the effort to get airfence in that turn. Homestead/Miami speedway really stepped up and covered nearly all of the very expensive cost and it was put in JUST in time.

very cool stuff.  He just sent me this message, i don't think he'll mind me sharing.  Like Melka said, its a good thing the riders supported it and HMS paid for it, and just in time.

I just wanted to once again express my gratitude for your efforts in adding the airfence to turn 7 @ Homestead. It saved me and my bikes life. I hit it so hard it flew up in th air.

I just got back from the hospital and I only suffered a broken ankle. Lots of bruising, but It's nothing compared to what could have happend if i would of hit the wall at the speed I was going.

Thanks again!!!

Thanks guys I was concerned cause I saw the fence jump way up in the air and his bike hit the tire wall and exploded debris out onto the track causing me to take evasive action. Very glad his injuries are minor.

I was corner working years ago and we had to fly a guy out after hitting that tire wall. Again thanks D for taking the bull by the horns!

Also again great ride in the HW race D Winning from the pits was awesome. You had passed all the am's on lap 1!

Melk we miss ya down here. Will you make the first race at Moroso?

yes, can't wait for the new layout at Moroso. Really glad to hear the airfence is doing the job and saving lives.
