Title: Need Input: will 954RR triples fit?
Post by: hrvat2 on May 31, 2008, 08:39:06 AM
Hey guys,

I just bought a set of Ohlins forks for a 1000RR to use on my '03 model 600rr racer.
Doing a bit of research I found this: http://www.600rr.net/vb/showthread.php?t=32339
This fellow has done the same conversion and had used 954RR triples...supposedly so he could retain the use of his Scott's rotary damper since, also supposedly, the 1000RR triples will not allow for such. Can someone confirm the accuracy of this info?:
1) 954RR triples are near same as 1kRR and will fit 1kRR forks
2) Scott's damper will work with 954RR upper triple clamp and will not with 1kRR (I figure this could makes sense since the 1KRR has the HESD)

I'd also be interested to hear from any of you racers who may have done this (I've seen a couple of race only 600rr's with 1kRR forks in the FS section here and elsewhere) how the bike's handling was affected at the track, any issues encountered etc...

Thanks in advance for any input!
