How come the Yoshimura Suzuki's are sporting only one exhaust can? I thought the motorcycles had to mimic their street counterparts. WSBK does it right,and I really doubt the Yoshimura bikes are faster than Francis Batta bikes, or the factory. Regards, Dan

Actually, from what I've read and heard.. The Yosh bikes are faster then any WSBK bike.. after all, the only stock parts on the Yosh are the main frame spar and the outer engine cases.  EVERYTHING else on those bikes are custom made, UN-Obtanium parts.  The WSBK bikes on the other hand are a lot closer to stock and have to be honestly (or as close as possible) homolagated. 

So the single can on the Yoshimura, now Rockstar/Makita bikes follow along with the full custom everything formula that Suzuki uses for AMA Superbike.   Lastly,Yosh is pretty  much the most 'in the factory' team that I can think of.  I believe that they have direct input to Suzuki and can actually madate certain things simply to keep them 'on the bike'.  So when you talk about the 'Suzuki Factory' when it comes to racing, you're pretty much looking at what Yosh wants first and every one else comes second. 

If anyone has any better/clearer information on this, I'm sure it'd be a good thing to see.

AMA Superbike rules have been tamed down quite a bit too.  AMA Superbike is an important series though.  Suzuki puts a lot of value and money into it.

They were testing a dual can and single at the Fontana test ealier this year when I was there.  THey had all kinds of sensors plugged into it.  Apparently, the single can still performs the best.

Also, the single can is lighter by probably 3 lbs.
