I know what the rule book says, there is no way we can use 6in numbers for the front?

Perhaps this thread should be made sticky, for once and for all.

According to Eric Kelcher, YES, you can go down as small as 6" #'s in the front and YES, you can go down as small as 4" #'s in the rear IF the standard 8" and 6" numbers won't fit.

well when you race uther sancation it seems there is a conflect of numbers ,[ daytona; to small or not place the way the inspector liked ] wera, too big 8" on front change to 4. ccs 8" I had basic numbers and by the book 8" front 6" back both sides and had to change the front 3 times and was question about the back of size.

The CCS rule book says you can use 4" on the rear plates.  It's not a question of only if 6" or 8" won't fit.

try to use the biggest possible. I was watching by the scoring tower this weekend at Summit, and some of the #s were unreadable. I really dont see how they do it
