I see NESBA holds the track on the 2nd of May before the race weekend on the main course. Question, do we have to go through them for Friday practice. Just trying to line up funds and schedule so I'm not pulling out my hair, or what's let of it later on. Thanks for future responses.
Answer is yes... you have to go thru them for the track day before the race weekend. I dont know of any 'practice/track day' that CCS itself is incharge of. I wouldnt call it 'race practice', but I would call it a trackday before the race weekend that alot of racers will be at.
That may be different for the affiliates but it is not the case in the MA region. As far as I know..
You may want to ask them whether they have a "racer" class or whether you'll be trying to practice within a normal "trackday" group.
As others said, you have to go through NESBA directly.
Good luck!
FYI we are running race practice on May 24 and Sept 5 prior to the ASRA races those weekends at Summit Point and working inconjunction (ie register with track) with RA on race practice on July 3 and HPT on Apr 24
Eric, so we will have to go through nesba on the 2 of May if we want to practice that day correct?
yes that is correct. You can register at NESBA.com . There will be 3 groups, beg.int. and advanced. You can only sign up in advanced if you have progressed through NESBA or if you have a current Expert race license.
Does that mean paying their $75 fee for membership?
yes you have to pay the $75 membership fee plus $175 for the trackday which brings your grand total to $250 for a trackday. thats freakin outragous!!!!! that blows big time.

But you get a free t-shirt :P
i never got a free t shirt from nesba
but once you are a member its only the track day fees for the rest of the year which nesba is a year from when you sign up
some other clubs are calender year member ships but the prorate membership fees.
so if you want to ride summit before may 3-4th you either have to do nesba or team promotion which has days in march and April on summit main
team promotion member ship not required but recomended
Well just tried to sign up for the may 2 and it's all full, only waiting list is available. What a bunch of &^^&**((*. Unless you've been with nesba and don't have to start at the beginner level. Expert lic can automatically sign up for the advance class. If I'm reading this correct. Can any one help out with this?
as far as i know you need an expert license to be in there advanced group or there control riders can bump you up if you don't have one.
try a team promotion day it might not be the day before the race weekend but it will still help if you haven't been there since last season
Yes, when initially signing up with NESBA, unless you have a current expert race license, you'll start out at the bg level. However; I have seen some petition and get bumped to intermediate. Oh yea, as some have found out, Summit is one day that fills up quick w/nesba. Unless you sign up early, real early you're pretty much a## out.
The only thing I dread is wading through trying to find a spot to pit. argh...
If you haven't been on Summit Main since the repaving, many of the lines and markers have changed... highly recommend getting out there and practicing before a race weekend... with all the changes I wouldn't be surprised if Batey and Jensen get to sub buck-ten laps....

Sub minute? not unless they took some of the turns out.
From what I have seen times "on average" drop by 3 seconds. Some people have dropped more and others have stayed the same. I have only heard these things so nothing is confirmed until I've actually ridden the track but I'm sure it will be much faster. A few people I know who run cars there said the traction is incredible. I am curious to see how that will affect tires as far as wear. Right now, I am going in with an open mind...trying not to set any expectations on how the track will be or what times to expect.
Good thing is there are very few complaints! Not sure if anyone else is going but I will be at the April 17th Roger Lyle day in case anyone is coming out. I'm bike #410 so if you see my stop by and say hello!
I rode a showroom stock (stock exhaust, no engine work, no suspension work, no work of any kind) 600 gsxr (that's 105 hp) on a track day and without pushing too hard went from a 1'23" on my first lap of the day to a 1'19" on my last lap of the day after I figured out the new lines. With full suspension and engine work and exhaust, a little more practice and a little race-time adrenalin, I would expect to shave another 4 seconds at least, which would be about 3 seconds off my time from last year.
Between the improved grip and the faster lines, expect everyone to drop at least 3 seconds this year, if they make the effort.

You said sub minute for the really fast guys- that would be around 13 seconds a lap drop.
Oops, you're right, my bad. I somehow got it in my head they were at 1'03" rather than 1'13" (actually 1'12" now). Thanks for setting it straight.
Anyway so I guess they'll be running almost Nelson Ledges times at Summit then, which is still pretty amazing.
That Friday is not a race practice it is NESBA running a track day. Convenient if you want to practice but not sponsored by CCS, so you got to pay if you want to play.
I was at Summit main on Monday and all I can say is I wish they never touched the track in the first place. It was damp Monday and Summit has a 20x10 sealer patch at the apex in one riders kept slipping on all day. In turn 3 it looks like someone dumped a can of paint on the track on the apex and rather then fixing the problem Summit put sealer right over the top of the paint, turn 5-6 has been patched to fix the sealer they had filled the track with at the end of last year, turn 9 there appears to be a can of paint spill at the exit and finally in turn 10 they painted the curbing but went out 18-24" or so past the end of the curb so now there is slippery painting at the apex of 10.
It is ashame.
You gotta be joking right? Whats up with all the sealer in T-1? Leave it to them to screw up a completely good track with a fresh pave job
The sealant must be a new addition. I stopped by a few weekends ago when cars were running and the track looked good.
I was there monday as well. The patches in 5 and 6 where they ripped the pavement up a month or so ago to fix it from the repave are bumpier than the concrete of pre repave ever were. There are random patches of sealer all around the track making it quite the experience in the wet, even at a track day pace. The paint spill in 3 is pretty much right at the apex and is slippy even when dry. The paint spill in 9 is on the outside and on the race line as well. These clowns definitely ruined the track. Not looking forward to racing or riding there at all this year now. As far as lap times go, they may have been faster the first track day after the repave last year but, the grip that was there then is not there now.

No it isn't. I was there for the first track day after the repave and the track was great. By the second one there were a lot of cars on the track and there was sealant all through turn 1 and starting between 5-6 going half way through to 7. They repaved 5-7 but the sealant is still in turn one. It is a thin layer so maybe you missed it. But a thin layer is just enough to remove all the pavement bumps that would have been traction. Those groves are all filled in and the apex is slick.
I didn't think the old pavement needed to be refreshed especially not in a half assed way.
