Post by: gonecrazy on February 25, 2008, 08:59:57 PM
This may be a stupid question but do you guys run you ram air tubes with the track glass or do you remove them completely?

ditto in a ways.

Tom, as you know I have an 05
last season I ran 03-04 bodywork and I had to modify my 05 tubes.

I ran them mainly for Topeka and RA because any little bit helps.

Are you asking for Jimmy or are you running a 6er this season instead of your 1krr?

1k is gone..I am running a 06 600rr this year, Jimmy doesnt have his in, mine line up fine, I was just woundering if it was more un need garbage. Plus it makes it a pain taking the upper off and on quickly.

I run mine all the time - Helps if you glue (I used a little silicone on the outside) the two parts together.

heck, Jimmy did real well at RA last season and he didn't have his in. nice. although I was just barely able to get him up the hill and it took two tries to lock that pass in. iirc

I'd imagine the A/F would be just a tad on the rich side in the upper rpm at high speeds so it wouldn't hurt any.

If you wouldn't mind, pm me Jimmy's email so I can send him a couple of the high rez pics i have of him at RA

Not sure if I have any of you but I'll look through the archives I have if you want.

Run them...

They are very much worth running provided you have them fitted properly.  It's a little more than just richening the a/f mixture if you leave them off... the net loss is probably 4-5 HP at triple digit speeds

Run them. At a fast track like Brainerd with a long straight the bike will actually shut off by the end of the straight on you without them...

i run em on mine. i drilled a hole through the bodywork and through the ram air tubes....then zip tied the tubes onto the bodywork so they stay in place.

they fit almost perfect on my Attack Racebodies. taking the upper on and off is no problem as well.
