I have heard that the new promoter will also take over AMA Dirt Track too.

The France's bought it. It is a done deal, everything finished up the end last week. That is the word from my inside guy.
I'm interested in seeing how fast it will grow, now that there will be some money behind it. And they do know how to promote.

i hope you are right cause while i for one do not like nascar you cannot hlep but notice how much it has grown and the likes of jeff gordon and tony stewart are household names. i mean look at dale jr. the guy hasn't even won one chammpionship and everyone knows who he is. say mat maladin so someone or hell even valentino rossi and you will get looked at like you are retarded. so i for one think the ama superbike series has great things coming if the frances of nascar get involved. just look at how grand am has helped auto road racing in america or in our case the relative explosion in popularity of moto-st in its one year of existense

That fits in very conveniently with the press release by Roger Edmundson a month ago to look for a major change in the Moto-ST schedule and sponsorship arrangements prior to Daytona. No secret concerning his connections to the France family.

The France family has been in bikes forever. Afterall, the Daytona 200 is older than the Daytona 500. Brett, I've heard that too.
So AMA now becomes the two wheel circus ? Caution flags for hot dog wrappers on the track? Spies haas a runaway until 3 laps from the end when the powers throw the caution to "tighten it up", have a one lap sprint to the finish, which will reult in a major crash on the last lap and they finish under the yellow? Pace cars at ALL events not just the 200? Back to racing in the "superspeedways" with all the walls, etc.? Remember IOWA? The list goes on and it's scary.........
At least their pace car guy will know where to enter the field! :)
The irony that Roger Edmundson may end up having something to do with AMA Superbike racing is kinda funny (Since back when he ran CCS in the 90's he won that lawsuit against the AMA). :spank:
If all of this news is accurate, it can only be good for American Motorcycle Racing, the lack of proper direction in recent years has frustrated many racers and fans.

The 1st year I raced (1996) I got to take the Team Suzuki Endurance School at Road America for free as a perk of purchasing the all new '96 GSXR 750, I took the class at the 2nd RA event that season, I looked at it as free practice time. Unfortunatly out of the 60 people in the class there were only 6 racers who had been on a race track before (Track Days didn't really exist back then), I ended up getting taken out by one of the street riders in my 3rd session and unfortunately could not finish the class. This led to me going up to the main concession stand area to just hang out, the only other person there was Roger Edmundson who invited me to sit with him. We talked for a bit till the guy in charge of the National Series with CCS at that time came over and sat down (Doug - maybe?) and the 3 of us had a great conversation.
I think if Roger has anything to do with running it then the AMA series will probably get it's act together, my only real concern would be that I hope they change the AMA's attitude about Tracks that are more dangerous due to barriers and such and not wait until accidents like Duhamel's to finally do something. Racing is risky enough, having blattent safety issues being identified by the riders and not doing anything about it is just plain stupid and ultimately out of greed. Looking forward to an improved AMA Pro Racing series! :thumb:

Indianapolis - The American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) provided an update on the Association's ongoing effort to find promotional partners for its professional racing series after the conclusion of the organization's board meeting in Indianapolis, which concluded Saturday, February 16.
"The AMA received a number of proposals in response to our call for bids," said AMA President and CEO Rob Dingman. "We are following a defined protocol with our governing board to thoroughly review each bid. At this point, no decisions have been made but the process is moving forward as planned."
Dingman stressed that secrecy was a necessary part of the proceedings. "It's very competitive and we must ensure the sanctity of the review process. As we consider our options, our first priority must be the health and well-being of the AMA and its 290,000 members. When all is said and done, professional racing promotion will improve motorcycle racing, and that's a good thing for the AMA and its members who race."
