I've been looking around for a pit bike. Not sure what to get, but just want something for those days at RA and something the g/f can use to get around the track. (looking for something like $600 or less).
I was thinking about getting one of these:

Or would you guys recommend anything on this site?:

What are your thoughts...experiences?
TIA for any replies.
I've had a Honda Spree and a CRF50F.
I hate the 50 and wish my Spree still ran. The 50 is a PITA to ride compared to the Spree - especially in leathers, boots, etc. And you can't transport tires either.
One thing to consider is that some tracks will only let you use something that is legal for the street.
Hi Polish Pete, I have closeout 50cc scooters that have foot wells big enought to carry wheels. (I'm a tire guy, so that was a requirement) I am closing out my 07 model scooters for $750 a piece. I'm at 410-437-6611. THanks, Mize Mobile -Quentin
Gordie (Weggieman) had a Spree or an Elite for sale on here a few days ago. Not sure what he did with it.
Alfredo (Sauce) had one for sale on here recently too. They both would be fairly close to you - Alfredo in Chicago and Gordie in the Milwaukee area.
I found Alfredo's.......

Hey Sauce,
Could you please email me some pics/details/etc. of the Spress you have?
peterhockey29 (at) hotmail.com
Thanks.
I use a bicycle. To carry things, I have an old trailer that was for carrying 2 kids.
Better for you, less maintenance, much easier to carry than a scooter.
Thanks for the replies.
We tried the bike thing, but it wasn't a lot of fun at RA with all the hills and all. Other places like Putnam it really isn't a big deal.
PolishPete,
Sauce had pictures of the Spree in this listing......

crf 50 is alot of fun
i bought big bars and did the suspension and a thicker seat. and the parts are cheap and they seem to run well
then if a few buddies get them there fun to race around the yard
I had mine sold but so far no $$$. Let me check with him to see if he still wants it. Like they say............cash talks.
Thanks for all the input guys. Can't decided between a scooter and dirt bike type. I really am pulling towards a 70/85/125cc dirt bike. I'd like to be able to have some fun in the yard too, as well as use it at the track.
What are your thoughts on Orion Pit Bikes. They seem to be OK, but any experiences? Looks like the "fake" or replica type bikes are a couple hundred less than the reputables (yamaha, honda, etc). Your experiences. I've read some of the "get the real thing", but has anyone really had bad experiences with the fakes, or is it just hearsay for now?
Got the word, mine is sold....sorry.
You need to think about the license part. A lot of tracks only allow licensed vehicles sa pit bikes. Hate to see you buy something and then not be able to use it fior its intended purpose. :banghead:
What do you mean licensed (please clarify)? You can't license a 50cc yamaha can you? But I see them everywhere.
Thanks for the heads up.
Must be registered and have a plate. Yes, you can license a 50cc scooter. In WI it's a moped plate.
Thanks. So basically, you're just saying to register whatever it is I get. Any list of tracks that require registered vehicles?
