Hey, if anyone's interested in seeing pictures of our son, go to either www.cnn.com or google Kevin Key Bahrain. Not that I'm proud or anything...HA HA
Here's a direct link (http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2008/01/images/20080113-1_volumeslaciemainp01-1-515h.html)
And, very cool!
yes that is cool
Congrats Barb and Ed! I'm sure that's a moment he'll always remember!
Barb,
That is so very cool. He doesn't even look like himself anymore. He looks so grown up. You better keep the girls away from him.
Amy
Very nice!! Something he will never forget I'm sure.
very nice. ya gotta be proud.
Awesome pic! God bless the troops!
very cool! I'm sure I can speak for most when I say Good job and return safely!
Luccckkkkyyy.
The only folks I got to meet when I was deployed was Rebecca Romaine-Stamos, Leann Tweeden, and select members of the Cowboys cheerleaders.... :) :D
That is something to be proud of.
Thanks for the positive comments. There are some people who take what we have for granted, and do nothing but complain. After being in the Middle East, I came back with a greater appreciation for the freedom we have; one being freedom of speech.
Now that is really something Barb!!!!
Congrats to you guys, you should be very proud (I know you are...)
Just outstanding!

Good on all of them .
I've been surfing alot of forums this past 6months ,and ma'am I must say you bring to this forum the kind of spirit and comrade's that can't be found anywhere else .
My plan is to shake your hand someday.
Happy new year
yours truly Gus
Thanks to your Son for his service to our country.
Thanks, I'll pass it on to him. What he's doing is important and I'm very proud of him.
For sure... just found out my brother is going back there again for 6 months... :(
Last time he was there, he was rappelling out of a helicopter at night when it came under fire... the pilot drug him and 3 other guys across some power lines that threw them all off. He fell about 20-30 feet. Broke his ankle real bad.
Wow, how is he now? That sounds really bad.

I don't think he healed completely, cause he wants to go back! :)
He had to have something like 3 operations on his ankle. It's been about 2 years since then and I guess he's now well enough to go back over in combat.
Here's a picture of him doing some crazy stuff! He's at the top on the left.. :ahhh:
How long has your son been in the Navy?
That is very cool :thumb:
My son joined the navy in June 2006, right out of high school. He recently became a petty officer. He's been doing quite well, and has been encouraged to attend officer training. Not that I'm bragging or anything. He's accomplished all this on his own through hard work He was stationed in Virginia for a few months and has been in Bahrain since March 2007.
Wow! That's a cool picture! I certainly couldn't do that, because I even have a problem going up in an elevator with a view to the outside.

Ditto!
I hope your son gets into officer candidate school. One thing that is true is that you can do whatever you want in the military. My brother started out as a welder... went to diving school and learned all there is to know about that and from there is now a member of an EOD team.
My brother has been in the Navy going on about 25 years now.
I grew up an Air Force kid (Dad was in for 30 years), so I am familiar with their struggles.
I'm just glad there are people like your son and all the other military people that will go thru all the hardships they endure for America. My hats off to all of them.
How does he like the Navy life? Ed wasn't in the military was he? What made your son decide to join the Navy?
Ed wasn't in the military at all, but both my father and Ed's served in the navy. One of the things Kevin mentioned was he thought it was the right thing to do, and he wanted to honor both his grandfathers by joining the navy. I just wish my parents were alive to share this with them. He seems to like being in the navy and has been up for a couple awards and nominations. I see that it was the right choice for him.

No need to feel like you're bragging. I think those of us that have military experience recognize that becoming an NCO that quickly is a pretty fast track. Speaks for itself, Barb. Nice!

Awesome! Sounds like he's going to make the most of it.
Awesome picture, did he come home for his January leave?
Hi Craig! It's great to hear from you!!! No, he didn't get home at all. I just talked to Kevin said that he won't get home for quite awhile. Not sure when, but when he does, I'll be sure to let you know.
Kevin has won his second award for being Sailor of the Quarter, due to his high performance. Also, he's been nominated for sailor of the year. It sure looks like he's making the best of things there. He'll do well.
Very cool! Most every time I see a pic of our military, I cant help but think of my own children and then draw the natural conclusion: that with your sons and daughters serving on the front lines of our nations freedom, my own son and daughters can grow up, attend school, live their dreams, raise families and worship God. Thank you. (though it does look like the President cut in the chow line) 8)
God bless our troops!
As a matter of fact, the President DID cut in line; that's what I heard.

Ah, one of the many the perks of the top job.
A most impressive family.........glad you all are where you want to be and You all have Big ( fully deserved) reasons to be proud of a son who loves his country so much and understands the current threats this country is facing- seems 1/2 the country has their heads planted conveniently in a hole in the ground- like much of the free world does- PEACE-cannot be had with our current enemy- they want to rule the world there way- Thanks to all the service people- screw berkely- I dont post much lately, this was a must-cat
Thanks Catman! It amazes me that, for someone so young, he didn't hesitate to step up to the plate like that.
