Title: Any word on BHF improvements with new owner's??
Post by: jigs on November 19, 2007, 08:08:56 PM
Just curious if anyone's heard anything on any track/safety improvement's for BHF for the up-comming season. Most of us who race there know about t-1,bus stop, and t-7 needing a re-pave,but any thing else to look forward to??

There were bulldozers there on Sunday night when I was there.

There will be changes.  I think the concrete was going down yesterday for the new office.  They found a drainage pipe that had settled under the area where a lot of water gets moved out of the pits to the outside of the track near turn one.  That's been replaced.  Paul's trying to move forward one step at a time.  There's things he wants to do.

Yes there will be new shitters!  Not sure what sorts of permits are needed for new construction(especially on property that "many" would like seen turned into a subdivision).  Noise complaining Assholes!  Dave probably knows best.  New timing facility?, bathrooms, offices/entrance, "weigh/tech building(maybe).....

Well, I think there was concrete going down yesterday or next week for the new front office.  I think the new tech building was staked out.  I know they were working on some drainage issues too.

I'd rather take a shit in a questionable bathroom than smoke the wall outside T2.
Any word on that?

No doubt!  I agree here 100%  Just saying it would be nice to NOT prefer to take a #2 in the porta potty over a permanent toilet....

Signed...

Well I hope whoever doe's the new shitters are no.1 in the no.2 buissness.I have to believe those corner's will be re-paved.That ptting is God awefull, either ya get a big slide in front or spin up the rear, and hope you don't dump it till ya learn where to stay out of.I also understand Road America has already re-paved several corner's,and yes,ACC really need's a complete, who know's,I might even learn to like it.

What wall outside T2?  If you hit that you really screwed up!

Or got bumped off.

That wall really needs to be pushed back at least 15' IMO. HEaring "waving yellow in 2, Bike down, rider down" on the radio isnt something I like to hear. Its normally not good.

BTW a new crash truck and trailer would be nice. Well trailer definately should be first.

Is that left rear tire on the trailer cambered for a reason or is it just ready to fall off.  ::)

Come through t2 on a 600 or a 1000 at speed and tell me that the wall is not a problem. Until I did that the wall was never on my mind either.  It seems to want to suck you right off the track to, it at least that is how I felt going through there.

they should just plan more corn and rip up the shitty track thats there and forget it ever existed.
that was the worst track I have ever seen or ridden
narrow, shitty pavement ,no run off, bad bathrooms even worse shower, bad food , no power to run warmers, might as well park on the side of the road it would be nicer then the pits.
the curbing looked like something you would see in a parking lot.
might as well race down the road in traffic

Well besides that what's wrong with BFR?

yup, you're moving through there so fast that if you crash in the appex you're in T3 by time you stop slidding.  And it's really bad if more than one bike make contact and someone gets pointed at the wall.

While it is not a RA or a Mid Ohio, it is better than it was.  I can
think of at least 2 tracks out your way which are much much
worse.

No, I've highsided at the apex of two.  You don't make three or the wall.

I felt alot more comfortable about t-2 once I actually walked the track, and looked at every corner, backward's,once I walked through it.I noticed that after I walked through t-2 and turned around and looked at the corner backward's,beetween t-2 and t-3,it looked completely different.Comming into the corner, you see the armco and you think if you fall, you'll go right into it.Looking at it backward's,it's different, and seem's to be kind of an illusion, and from that viewpoint,it look's like the odd's of hitting that drop dramatically, and made me ALOT more comfortable going through there at speed, just a thought.

If you crash mid corner you will hit that wall. Ask Nate Doebert, he hit it in 06 and got really messed up. Never raced again.
The reason 2 is scary is that it's so fast. It's not like a bus stop where you just slide off the track. That thing is fourth gear wide open with nothing but grass to slow you down before impact. It's even worse in the wet.

Well,if anything,it would sure be nice to see at least see air-fence there,I'm sure to take out the barrier and move everything back, alot of those tree's would have to go,I wonder what they are thinking and how much they are willing to spend.Let's face it,motorcycle's,between the track day org's and CCS,bring in a hell of alot of revenue.

maybe you weren't going fast enough  :lmao:

all I remember was air, ground, air, ground, visor flipped open, shoveled in dirt, why haven't i hit the wall yet, I should be dead...  ouch my leg feels like it's broken, but I'm alive  :kissy:  wooohooo, just a hyper extended leg and we made it parrallel to the wall in T2.

Would you like some cheese with that whine? Blackhawk is great now, you should have seen it 25 years ago!!!

Exactly 7 trees would have to go to fix turn 2. I've looked it over several times. Remove those trees and straighten the guard rail to run straight at T3. You get a ton of run off room.

Grattan is no Taj Mahal either... but there's still a certain amount of charm to the craptastic pavement, hideous facilities and lack of amenities. BHF was the first track I've ever ridden on, so with all its "character" it still has a warm place in my heart. New toilets would be the awesomeness though.
