Title: Safety wiring mishap
Post by: GRN_MACH on February 20, 2003, 05:50:20 AM
I rung a bit off in the brake line bolt. I can fill the other end of the bit just breaking the surface on the other side. So, how do I remedy this or can I? BTW, could some one let me know if this is the complete list for safety wiring and if not , let me know what I missed?

oil fill cap
oil filter
oil drain bolt
front and rear caliper(sp?) bolts
front and rear brake line bolts
rad hose clamps

Thanx for helping out the rookie, Danny

For CCS the only things that require wiring are the oil fill, oil drain, and the oil filter. Feel free to wire any thing else.

It sounds like the bit is broken off inside the bolt. You can try drilling from the other side and then pushing the broken part out. It is very common for the bit to break when it reaches the other side.

Are you tring to do this with a hand drill, while the bolt is still in place ???

  If so.....STOP!

Yah, never-mind, you'll figure it out. :P

You will be needing more drill bits! ;D

'Hint.'  A vice and a small drill press. ;)
