Title: Do I have to cut the fairing on a 07 CBR 1000RR?
Post by: Marsolais on September 28, 2007, 05:16:00 PM
Does anyone know if I would have to cut the fairings on the 2007 CBR 1000RR for frame sliders or do they make ones that mount without cutting?

There are no cuts available, however, the design of the bike lends itself to doing better without using sliders at all. Many who have used them on the 1000RR have found their bike will just tumble instead of sliding, causing much more damage.

Depends on how effective you want them to be...

The strongest attachment point is through the frame at a motor mount which, if I recall correctly, will require you to do some trimming.  Well worth it IMHO.

I have seen good & bad with conventional frame sliders and non-cut framesliders, but in my experience the conventional (typically requiring a cut/trim) ones hold up better.
