Has anyone heard about a track day at Carolina for non licensed riders to bring street bikes or will this be a regularly scheduled practice day?
Hi Scott!
I think this is covered on the CCSRACING.COM web site, but I could be wrong.
The Lockhart Phillips Street Rider Days will still include practice for racers as well as including separate sessions for beginners and intermediate street riders.
Perks include:
- Discounted price to all CCS racers who have pre-entered for the weekend
- Free entry certificate to CCS racer who brings a street riding friend the 1st time
BTW, glad to see you back! Hope you had a good time at VIR.
Hey Jeanne - it's Jennifer! we had a great time at VIR and looking forward to Carolina. A friend of ours is wanting to bring his street bike to run the Lockhart event - I searched the CCS page but didn't find out anything. I'll keep looking - let me know if you find anything. Thanks!!!!
Hey Jen! I know a page was included in the mailers that CCS sent out for license renewal (?) or Daytona pre-entry (?) ... one of those, I think.
I can fax the page I have to you if you'd like. Email me with your fax number.
I just got the scoop from corporate:
The event is Friday, May 3. There will be three divisions of the street rider day - Street, Sport, Advanced. There are no pre-entry forms to fill out and the cost is $125 for your first time and $100 for any other event scheduled later in the season. You do not have to have a race license and your bike does not have to be race ready. You do need to tape up your headlight and disconnect break lights and remove turn signals and mirrors. Your bike will go through tech and they will walk you through what needs to be done (don't worry about your airboxes - there are no DQ's). Now, the good news--if you are a CCS licensed rider and you bring your friend to this event you will receive a $30.00 credit to put towards a race event.
um, nice yellow plates scott. he he!! ;D ;)
Thanks - but unfortunately you're talking to Jennifer - and the reason behind the yellow plates is self explanatory if you were at the Roebling Road event last season when we took a wonderful helicopter ride to the hospital. I'm just glad that he's back on the track, whether it be white or yellow plates.

Good - glad you got it. I'll be heading up Registration and will be getting all the particulars to help it run smoothly when it gets closer. This is the only one in the SE region, but there will be one at every Summit Point for Mid-Atlantic riders.
Ought to be great ... if folks hear about it. I hope some promotions are done in Charlotte and other nearby cities to bring in some street riders.

DOC - I thought that was you!!!! You shouldn't be throwing stones at my boy since you didn't even bring a bike to VIR. :o
You're such a smart ass - I guess that's why we love ya!!!!
Jeanne - We have afew street riders that are going to attempt to make it to Carolina. CCS really should post something on there website.

that's why i had my lackey hobson bring one for me!!??!! ;D
good thing you didn't win anything or you would have gotten DQ'd also. I don't quite know all the details but it still sucks.
How is "Chunky but Funky" doing? I take he lived? ;D Tell him that Moose is now on the track he better beware! ;D ;D
Hey Moose - Scott is doing good! It's good to see him on two wheels again. Believe it or not he's actually on the same bike that crashed again this year. It wasn't as bad as it looked. Nothing GMD couldn't fix. What bike are you running?
Right now my bother's F4 but I am tring to sell my 1K to get a 750 and join him out there (just get in his way). ;D

Jennifer - I wrote to Mike Murphy and told him to post something on the CCS site ... and he did it! Here's the link.

I personally think that more info should be included for our racers who are a little confused about how they fit into the day's schedule. What do you think?
Jeanne -
The link looks good - the racers may be a bit confused on how they fit in but that's nothing new - a good pit momma can sort it out for them at the track. It should be a fun event! See you at cmp! :)
