I noticed that some of the factory guys have tape wrapped around their fingers and knuckles. Not nearly as much as a boxer would have. Any ideas on why they do that?
To prevent blisters.
hmmm... so much for keeping a relaxed grip on the bars like i was taught. but at their speeds, i guess you have to.
Depends on the taping, some is to give more support to an injured or weak area.
I don't know about from racing, but when I did gymnasitcs the callouses on hands would build up to a point and then rip off leaving a nasty mess.
