Title: First race weekend w/CCS
Post by: keebler on July 10, 2007, 10:05:26 PM
I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for a great weekend at Summit Point.  I was on the #140 Bright Green ZX10R.  It was my first race weekend and I have to tell ya that no matter who I talked to I felt like I belonged.  Better than what I've got with other organizations.  Thanks again and can't wait to get back out there.

I'll take that as a compliment, Kumi.  However I won't let it go to my head, promise.

Thanks for the welcome Simon.

Now, does anyone have any pics?  I've been to the various websites of the folks who were taking but just thought I would ask if there were any others out there.  I've been to "under the black hat", sksportpics and a couple others that were posted in another post.

Were you the guy on the ZX10 with stock pipes? If so, I was sitting behind you at pit out before they let us out for Unlimited something or other thinking, "that dudes got balls, that bike is waaaay too pretty".  :lmao:
Kumi's right, you did look pretty damn good for a noob. Welcome to the family.

Yep, that was me.  Stock bike other than galpher front lines.  That's one hot $5 paint job there.  I've heard too many rumors about putting on a good paint job and then going out and kabooming the bike.  Thanks for the compliment, still got a lot of learning to do tho.

Welcome to CCS Jason. We are glad to have you. Without ALL of the riders Kevin and I would not be here. We appreciate each and every one of you. Good luck this year. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to call us here in the office.

Kumi, I'll be at Shenandoah.  I've been told it's unique in many different ways and looking at the map, I have to agree.  Do we know which direction it will be run?

I suppose I should pull my head out and thank the MARRC Corner Workers.  Very outstanding job.

Speedballer, thanks for the welcome.  It's been fun so far and expect it to only get better.  CCS is definitely a close org.  That's why I started here.

Hey Keebler, welcome bro!  Shenandoah is one of my favorite tracks, albeit a little scary with the walls so close.  Very technical and a great place to get some tight twistie saddle time.  After the GTU you will be thoroughly exhausted!  Watch out for the front end shakes as you come out of the horseshoe just before start/finish, theres a rough patch as you exit and can upset things a bit.  Again welcome, a couple of us will see ya there!

Thanks for the heads up chaplain.  I am very anxious and can't wait to run.  Even with the 10 I still like the tight twisty stuff.  I should be arriving Friday afternoon / evening.  All depends on when I can break away from work.  See ya'll there.

I've worked corners at the "Shenny", but this will be my first race weekend. I guess we'll be learning together :thumb: Try not to run over me!

I can tell you about a few parts of the track to be aware of as far as keeping the rear inline with the front.

I crashed there for my first time (in the rain) and second time (highsided coming out of "the hook" ) I haven't decided if I like or dislike the track yet.

I wont be racing next weekend.. Bike is not ready yet since my 3 crashes on the main circuit last time..  :banghead: I was trying to break Rachel's record of most crashes in a single weekend.. but I just tied her!  :ass:

See ya all there   :thumb:

I'm not intimidated of the track, just very respectful after everything I've heard.  As for running anyone over, that would mean I would have to be up with the pack... :lmao:  We'll see what happens...I wished I could I could make it down Friday for the practice but not sure if I can get away from work yet.  I'll wear my noob shirt again for all the races...Just so all know... :ahhh:  See ya'll there...

LOL it will take you a bit to get up to the "rider most picked up by Kumi" title,  :ahhh: which Rachel currently holds  ::)

I know that anyone used to racing at Summit is used to the practically immediate response "fallers" get from the MARRC Crew.  Just wanted to give everyone the heads up that, unfortunately, Shenny isn't nearly as worker "friendly" or as "accessible".  Please realize that it MAY take us longer to get to you because of the accessibility issues.  We will still be out there covering you guys just as loyally as always, but we just may not be there to pick up your bike before you finnish sliding

Way to go dude!!! You will do some good stuff when you get race tires. I don't think anyone realised you were doing so well on street tires!! This is tom, I was pitted next to you with the loud duc. I wont make it down this time but the next for sure. Looks like I'm keeping my duc so maybe we can dice a little at the next one. Great family by the way, Your doing it right.  :thumb:

Hey Tom, I owe you and Chris a huge Thank You for all the help and advice.  Great Pit Mates to have for a first weekend.

The 002's weren't bad, decent grip two laps to break in from new.  Of course they did like to slip n slide once extremely hot but it was a good learning tool.  I'd to try the race 002's but if not I'll grab some race buns at the track.

Thanks again for "all" the help and see ya back out there.  I wont be making the next Shenandoah but I'll be making the next Main and should be able to make VIR.  I had my calendar confused.
