So i'm trying to buy some type of hi density foam that you frequently find on superbike seats.
I want to add foam to my fuel tank exterior (to raise level and rest my head/helmet) and to add to my seat "butt rest" (so my butt doesn't slide back).
I've been checking out mcmaster carr but their selection of foam is so big and I'm not sure what to get.
Can someone point me in the right direction, what type (engineering name) of foam (Neoprene rubber or neoprene vinyl or poly-something foam) and where I should get it if not mcmaster carr. Maybe army surplus? Mcmaster carr is really expensive...
I bought some high density foam (neoprene) off Ebay. 1/2" thick. Worked great, got a huge roll (still have a little left) and was cheap.
Maybe I'll try a sleeping mat. I hope the army surplus store has it in stock
I've always used adhesive backed EPDM foam or Polyethylene foam, I like the EPDM better, but it tears more easily than the Polyethylene.
Check with Street&Competition I know they have some seat foam for sale and the pieces for the back of the seat.
You guys have fooam on ur seats? That must be nice.

I'll look into that. But for now I'm really tight on time so I'm gonna have to either go to an upholstry store and see what they have or use a sleeping/camping mat from an army surplus store.

I used a foam cutting board from true value it was yellow so it matched my plates everyone got a kick out of the true value under my butt about an 1'' thick cheap and worked in a pinch.
I will bring a brick to Road America that should take up the space you need
then i will just duct tape it to your tail section
thanks gary!
I just bought a yoga mat roll. Looks like it will do the job!
here is a place that sells closed cell foam for kayaks. It works real well. It is very densee and durable. Can be glued on or use double sided tape. It also comes in several thicknesses. http://www.noc.com/Store/10829
