Title: Setting up at Road America?
Post by: George_Linhart on June 26, 2007, 11:36:15 AM
Does anybody know if they will let us leave our pits set up inside the gates on Thursday night if we are there for the track day?

Last year they allowed this - I thought it worked great.

Thanks,

George

NESBA has the track on Thurs so I would think it would be at their discretion, and, well, since the CCS forum crowd hasn't been too friendly to them I wouldn't expect any big favors...

Last year we could leave our pit, but we could not stay at the track overnight...For those of us with Motorhomes it was a PITA...

I asked this a few weeks ago and didn't get an answer...CCS is out until tommorow and I am going to call them and ask...

I just spoke with Eric...Yes, we are going to be able to camp in the paddock Thursday night. After the NESBA day, they are going to clear the paddock of people. Not rigs, etc. Then after everyone is out, start letting people back in after they get wristbands, etc...

So lets all make sure we leave our rigs unlocked so security can make sure no one is camping out, and we can make this a quick process...

Here you go, I e-mailed NESBA (Garth), CCS & RA... These are the Answers from RA...  Garth will also be posting the NESBA info on the NESBA forum.

1) I will be arriving the night of the 4th, camping and riding the Nesba day on the 5th.  I know I'll need a camping pass, but how much per person (there will be 2 of us)?

You need a camping pass per tent or motor home, not per person ($35 per tent, $50 per motor home).

2) What hours will registration be open on the night of the 4th (NESBA)?

Usually it is open until 9 but I have a call into the guy from NESBA to confirm that.

3) Will we be required to completely clear out of the paddock after the Nesba Day, or can I leave my trailer in place?

Your trailer can stay in place as long as it is open so we can see that everyone has gone down to register properly for the CCS event.

4) Will we be allowed to leave the trailer in the paddock overnight on the 5th?

Yes, your trailer can stay overnight on the 5th.

5) Will we be allowed to camp overnight on the 5th?  And if not will I be allowd to sleep in my truck outside the gate?

Yes, you can camp the night of the 5th but need a different tag for the CCS event.  Same fees apply.  Purchase at registration

6) How much will camping be for the nights of the 6th & 7th (I will have three - well more like 2.5 -  more family members joining me)?

     Same fees as NESBA camping

7) When is CCS regestraion being held on the night of the 5th?
[Elliott] Thursday from 4-5pm for Team Owners, 5-6pm for preregistered only, then 6-8pm for all riders, Friday morning they will open by 7am.

Per "Event" Nesba = 1 and CCS =1 so if you camp Wed Night $35 to NESBA and then $35 again to CCS for Thur-Sat...

I wouldn't put any burdon on the CCS forum as a whole.  Most if not all the issues seem to stem from a couple of the same old - same old crowd, who are not only nonparticipants with NESBA but who are not even racing at this CCS event.  At the end of the day they are a non issue.

Road America NESBA event info can be found here.  http://www.nesba.com/TrackTalk/bb/Forum8/HTML/003714.html

Do "normal" camping sites (i.e. the ones on Road America's) site apply, or can we camp in the paddock?

i have heard that if we get there before the TD is over then we have to wait outside until its over to pull the trailer in.  i would like to be able to at least set everything up and maybe watch some practice as i have never been there.. any truth to that?

From what I understand, we can't get in until after 6:00pm Thursday night.

Plus people there already for the track day have to come back out minus there stuff, to register for the races. Should be a nice cluster F**k.

Not sure what you mean. Could be run as a normal race weeknd is run, which is we take over the track when the last renter is out, by working with NESBA and the track on this we are trying to speed up riders being in the track and less work tearing down between renters.

Spooner I don't beleive that is true if you are there for the track day you will have access on Thursday before 6. Racers have access after the track/paddock has been swept after the track day is over and you have gone through registration.

If you mean can you set up during the NESBA track day and not practice? then no you have to wait until CCS takes possesion of the facilty.

If all of the CCS workers would have shown up last year to work the registration this process would have worked out great. It seemed that everyone got off the track in a timely matter. Can wait for this event should be a great weekend.

Yeah we had some flight delays and people unable to get off work early and I know I covered a window for a coule hours and definitely was not as quick or as pleasant to look at as the normal registration crew.

Not to cause a problem, but I was told by Road America staff (via phone) that you could enter the track at any time and pay the camping fee.  Regardless if you were spectating or riding.  I had ask if I could drop my trailer on Wednesday or Thursday and was told that it would not be a problem as long as I paid my fee.

I am sure I will learn something new when I get there but that is what I was told by RA staff.

As for having to leave the premises to get new arm bands/credentials I assumed I would.

Anthony,

I think the catch on the camping fee may be that they are charging separate fees for the NESBA day than for the CCS/ASRA weekend.

By that I mean if you are there for the NESBA day only you would pay 1 camping fee.  If you are there for the ASRA/CCS weekend you would pay 1 camping fee.  If you are there for both you would pay 2 camping fees - 1 for each.

I think the real question will be at what time can you pay on Thursday for the  ASRA/CCS weekend and get in to drop your trailer.

I went back and reread the earlier post in this thread by Jason748.  I think that explains the timeline and fees way better than I did!

yeah, i just want to go in and drop the trailer and start to set up if i can get there a few hours early.  like anthony i was planning on leaving during the sweep process and all that.

This is correct if you are participating in the NESBA trackday event.  If only participating in the CCS/ASRA event then access my be gained starting at 6PM Thursday.

What I'm saying Eric is there may be some issues with people getting out of the track in a timely manner then we'll all be trying to shoehorn ourselves  into register.
Not trying to put a wrench in the works.  Not pointing a finger at anyone either.
