Title: VIR MW Superbike Protest..??
Post by: Headdog122 on June 25, 2007, 08:15:46 PM
I saw that there was a protest in the VIR MW Superbike race on Suday, and after looking at the result I'm just wondering what the deal was??  I had two buddies who finished the race within a fender of one another for 5th and 6th, Brett (#331) and Alex (#787) in that order.  But it looks as though Alex got bumped down to 7th..!!   :wtf:  Both are good guys..!!  What was the deal..??

Hook a brudah up with da 411..!!

They will usually tell the person protested and the person protesting what the outcome is.  My understanding is that it stays between those two people and the organization, unless one of those two people wants to tell what happened.  If Alex was protested he should have been notified as to why.  If he wasn't protested, and wasn't given his correct finishing place, it might be too late to do anything about it now.  They have a time window after the race that you can question the posted results, after which they are declared final.

I think you have the order wrong. There were two close finishes. I was a fender ahead of 331 at the line and my girlfriend said there was a second  battle just behind us that close at the line. Bikes 331 and 787 weren't together.

Danboy,

You weren't ahead of me (#331) by a fender. You didn't get by me until after the kink. You know it, I know it and our transponders knew it. I'm not sure why you protested, but for now it looks like it worked out in your favor. The results posted before I left for the weekend indicated that I took fourth.  Can't say that I'm too pleased with the CCS protest process, it just smells wrong.  But at least it was a fourth place situation and not a first place situation. Good luck to ya.

Motohick, I'm not looking to start a controversy. I protested because I had it and I knew I had it. I had friends at the line that say I had it so when I saw the posted results I questioned it. They apparently have three independant judges at the line for the close ones, they hand write the order and two had me, the third had a question mark for my number then your number. Thats why they overturned it because all three line judges had me. The transponder time was .003 difference, in other words it depends on what bike and where its mounted and are they mounted in exactly the same spot for the transponder to be accurate. What I don't understand is why they don't or didn't check with the line judges before something like that is posted in the first place.
I'm just glad we at least got to finish that one. Good luck to you on the next one hopefully it won't be as confusing next time or at least maybe we can be fighting for a first place.
