See the gate fees in the newsletter? $45 if you come on Thursday night and $35 on Fri night and $25 on Sat night? I guess that is new to charge extra to come in on Thursday night. The only good part is that it says camping is included, I guess we will see when we get to the gate. At the WERA races in March they added a $50 camping fee per vehicle on top of the gate fee which includded electricity. And people that camped in a tent they said had to pay a camping fee also plus electric.
I believe electric is included with that $45. VIR has plenty of power poles for everyone and the bathrooms are always spotless, even for us messy motorbike riders. :D
I don't think electric is covered in that fee.
Electric is always extra at VIR. They give you a special color wristband that you wrap around your power cord to show that you paid.
It is covered in that fee. They charge you automatically now because they got tired of people not paying for it.
Where did you get that info at? The June CCS mailer says specifically camping is included in those fees and electricity will be available for an extra fee from the VIR officials at the gate. At the WERA races there was a camping fee of $50 per vehicle that included electric.
From the CCS page:
Rider & Crew Gate Passes: (Cash Only)
Thurs.-Sun.: $45 (includes camping but not electric)
Fri.-Sun.: $35
Sat.-Sun.: $25
Sunday only: $15
looks like electric will be extra
wonder how much extra? Every time there seems to be some hidden fees!
I'm just sayin... you gonna believe the CCS Web site's data, whenever it was last updated, VS. a quick call to VIR to find out the real deal?
well i'm at VIR and the fees are outragous. 35 to get in the gate per person. 50 for camping which includes your electric. So i've spent $120 for just myself and the misses. What a rip off :err:
Yeah, I wonder how they charge camping. I just paid 85 for myself and camping but my girlfriend is coming up tomorrow with a car. Wonder if she'll have to pay $50 too because she has a vehicle?
I asked about what was stated on the CCS site about $45 and that including camping.....I got looked at like I had 3 eyes. :)
Well I take back what I said. I guess if I would have went this year it would have cost the wife and I about $120 to just enter VIR. It was what, $50 last year and that included camping, the gate fees, and electrical? Whats up with CCS charging almost $50 to enter?
yeah, my $85 got me an overloaded A/C outlet that trips out every 15 minutes. I'm even running tire warmers off a generator to reduce load and only using A/C via VIR.
*sigh*
you squeekers ought to try the hotel and garage I let my wife make arrangements last year as a little vacation it was real nice but man it killed the budget .
The fees are a bit steep, but it is a nice facility, i'll give them that. But at the prices they charge its tempting to get a hotel in Danville.
The fees are absolutely stupid. Think about it...if 200 people go at just $85 minimum thats $17,000 they make in gate fees...probably enough to pay the electric bill for the entire year.
huh? the gate fee was $25 for Sat/Sun. .. where you getting $85? If it were that much, you'd be lucky to get 200 people.
He's talking about the $35 if you came for Friday, and the $50 it was to camp. And if you're not camping you usually have to pay $20 for the electricity.
Hell.. Next time I'm just gonna hide my little trailer in Joel's much bigger trailer..!! :thumb:
Yeah, and I'm gonna switch my slow transponder for your much faster transponder!
Soooo. $50 to stay for three nights... as opposed to $60+ per night in a hotel? Sounds like a deal to me. What's the problem?
The deal would be that it used to not cost so freakin much!!!! I believe everyone should get a raise from time to time but jeez don't break the bank :kicknuts:
It was $35 for camping including electricity last year, and $50 this year. That's a 43% increase in cost. What's the current rate of inflation? About 3%? That increase is a little much.
And it is still a bargain, that's why I did it. But all they're doing for their money is not paying someone to go around and kick us out each night. A hotel has a building, buys furniture, washes sheets and towels, cleans the room, provides TV and phone service, etc. You can't justify the expense by saying it's cheaper than a hotel. Especially when a lot of tracks don't charge anything to camp. (or very very little)
How much is it to camp at Summit on a Fri-Sun CCS weekend?
Unless my mind is really failing me, they don't charge anything to camp. You pay the CCS gate fees, and about $20 for electricity if you want it.
Speaking of camping fees..........check this out!

Last year it was $25 per day just for the electricity!!! And you had to pay each day as they came around or you got turned off.
Which seems really weird to me because I remember them saying 25 a day for power. However, when I've been down there with STT for a track day it's 25 a for a weekend.
