Broken, badly.
He had surgery on saturday, he has all kinds of external hardware holding his leg and ankle together. I caught up with him when he got back from the hospital, he seemed to be in good spirits, all things considered.
Rob, hope you get better "fast"

not sure what size will be needed but i'll be out of the boot cast in a few weeks. at some point down the road when it's healed a bit more and they put you in one, let me know and i'll ship it out to you. it'll save you a couple hundred bucks anyway.
Heal up bro! Use that bone stuff!!!
Don't worry Rob...
Everyone will get much faster while your away!

If they were the same boots he was wearing early this year at a MAM track day they were A-stars.
Hey Rob,

Heal up fast man! Drink lots of milk?
thanks everyone... i lost the front in t-3 (bhf) tumbled a little, broke my ankle in 3 places (yeah its pretty bad... i'll post up the x-rays) but was otherwise unhurt :wah: had surgery friday to install these external support rods (looks pretty mid-evil, i'll post up some pics later). going in for surgery to repair the bones next week. It'll be 8- 10 weeks before i can walk again :wtf:
i was wearing astars supertech boots and the ankle support snapped like a twig... so did my ankle!
i doubt any boot would have protected me totally but i will buy the best i can find now.
thanks to steve, matt, jerry and ray for all the help and to everyone else for all the encouragement and concern... i'll be back

I saw the marks and the after math, not good. try the bone stuff that Rosno is pimping. I tried it and it works great. I think the ingredient that helps the bone mending is called microcrystaline hydroxyapatite or something like it. I think it helps most at the early stages of mending.
Get well soon

OK, I've been looking at my boots and thinking I should probably replace them since the middle of last year. Based on this I am going to order a new set of Sidi Vertigo Corsa Boots right now!
Sorry to hear about the damage done. Good luck and best wishes for a speedy recovery.
George Linhart
Yeah the supertech's are REALLY good boots-Like Rob said no matter what you wear sometimes your just going to break bones lol! I do pay a lot of attention to different safety gear and personally I think the best boots for the money are the supertechs. If I really wanted to blow a lot of cash I would go with Daytonas but they are pretty huge money and don't seem to be all that much better. I have to say the Sidi's dont' really impress me all that much. They LOOK like they have a ton of ankle support but all that plastic crap on the outside breaks quite easily.. Plus you can flex them at the ankles by hand and you get a lot of movement compared to the astar boots.
gotta agree with ya nick... of all the boots I've looked at I would have to say the s-tech's have some of the best protection.
I know they sure are comfy!! :thumb:
Get well, quickly...and since you have some time on your hands why don't you do some boot research and post up your opinion. If you need something from up here don't hesitate to ask.

:ahhh: dont go too crazy... not having a leg to walk on stinks, however, youll get really good with crutches :thumb:
Glad to know you made it home ok.
heal up quick Rob! So what stations come in with all those antenna's sticking out?
Heal up quick man. Let me know if you need any reading material or anything to keep busy. I know being laid up makes me crazy when I have nothing to keep my mind occupied

Rob,
Sorry to hear about your bad luck... Here's to a speedy recovery
I always wondered how to get a pair of pants on to go to work if I had to get something like that. I hope I never have to find out. Can't just cut it off like we used to do with the plaster casts after a few weeks.
Hope you heal well and quick. Those bone pills may work but they're stinky. Hold your nose and chuck 'em down.
just got approved for surgery tomorrow!!!! i get the stabilizer removed and the bones put back together! i will be in a splint for 2 weeks then a cast for 4 weeks and then a "walking boot". ahhh... life is good!
Best of luck tomorrow. I was so happy to rid of mine after 5 months. It made thing a lot easier like sleeping and getting dressed. My mother made me boxers with velcro on the sides so I could get them on.

God Damn dude. I'd have bought you some lego's. I know they aren't as cool as an erector set, but you get a lot more pieces for WAY less money.
i hope you heal up okay man. that looks like a rough way to spend the summer.
How did it go Rob? Hope all is well. Will you be spectating at RA?
Hey Rob,
You were just ahead of me and I saw you go down. Came by your trailer a few times over the weekend to see if I could help with something and you weren't around, the bike didn't look to bad but someone said you were at the hospital with a possible broken ankle.
I called and left a message that Monday to see how you were doing but see now why you haven't called back. You've been busy building a formula extreme leg, damn dude! that thing is all tweaked out!
Sorry you had such a bad injury, the crash looked like a simple low side and it didn't look like you had more than a tumble or two.
Freaky to see the result.
Get well soon buddy
Rob, don't listen to Temme. I'll tell you the real story;
Jason was worried he was gonna run out of U4. I brought him three cans, but he wanted a fourth.
When the Temmes found out that you got the last can, they took action...
Jason studied your line through the carousel in practice, then snuck out turn three to apply a layer of 10w-40 to the track.
Meanwhile, according to witnesses, Jim was out digging ankle-snapping booby traps in the runoff area.
Saturday morning Jim was banging on the door of my RV, asking for the last can of fuel. When I said it was yours, a maniacal grin crept across his face, and he sneered, "Rob won't be needing it."
It's disgusting what racers will do for a can of U4.

yeah... i was otherwise unhurt, not even a bruise!! the bike had a broken clip on, scuffed bodywork and footpeg. that all makes it pretty hard to take!!

no RA for me, its gonna be a while before i can stand (or sit with my foot down)but all fixed up now, i did discover a new level of pain!!! This was the 7th surgery I've had (two of the others were my left ankle but not broken so bad. others were ruptured ACL and flesh wound repair) so I'm no stranger to pain and suffering but this was the real deal!!! i dont know if i wanna risk going through something like this again..... props to dano! cant imagine his ordeal

Glad to hear from you. I know what your feelings about staying away, but for some reason the track will bring you back. I found that the healing part was the most painful. It will get better and hope to see you again.

Dang! I'm late to the update, but that looks pretty darn painful. I hope your doing better by now. Hopefully you can get back out to at least a track day before the season is over. I don't know how Dano does it. All this time on sidelines has to be driving him nuts!
Hang in there man. Heal up and see you back on track :thumb:
Rob, How about an update???
