Title: Summit and Riders age
Post by: PocketRocketz1 on May 16, 2007, 09:15:12 AM

We're thinking about going to Summit next week 5/26...the dates on the calandar say Sun. and Mon.  Are these the actual days of the race?  If so, will there be a Sat. practice?  We've never been to a CCS event, so I'm just wondering.  Also, if a rider is 15 years old and has an expert licenese with WERA, will he be allowed to participate with his 600 at Summit?

Our bike is WERA legal, will I have to look for anything else as far as numbers or tech is concerned?  I'm not worried about the number so much as I know that will change when we get our weekend license.

I want to get this figured out before we drive down there next week.

You may want to email Eric these questions directly (especially licensing)....

Eric.Kelcher@ccsracing.us

the bike should be fine.

The dates are correct. Races are Sun and Mon. (its a holiday weekend Memorial Day) There are track days Thurs, Fri, and Sat.

Thurs - Roger Lyle's Motorcycle Excitement Track Day $150
Fri- Team Promotion track day $175
Sat - MARRC track day $120 Non Member $100 MARRC Member
Sun & Mon CCS/ASRA Races

Bike should be fine if it is WERA legal.

You will have to call CCS about the licence.

I've emailed Eric directly twice with no response....is there a number to call?  I'm a little hesitant to call if he isn't replying to my emails, what does that tell me?  I hope he's just busy.

Not sure why you did not get the repsonses here are the two emails I received and the responses.

Daytona is 16 year old min. Who was it that you heard was under 16 in Oct?

We are working to get insurance back to 14 year cutoff for next year but I don't know when we will have that answer, we didn't hear the 16 year cut-off until Feb this year.

Subject: Riders age

Hello Eric,

My step-son (Corey Rech) is 14, will be 15 in April and has a year and a half racing with WERA.  He won 2 regional titles and 2 national titles with WERA and one AMA Amateur National all from '06 on Light Weight machines (SV 650 and FZR 400).  He also ran some 600 races at the end of the season on a bike that someone let him borrow and was running very competitive lap times.  I was wondering if he would be able to participate in any CCS events next year, like Daytona in March?  We couldn't participate in the GPRU because of the change in insurance and I heard there was a 15 year old running Daytona in Oct., so I hope this is all set for next year.

Please let me know.  I look forward to hearing back from you as we'll be putting together our schedule for next season when they are all released.

Regards,

Jeremy Pupillo.

You are correct an Expert licensed racer above the age of 14 can ride any size or modification level machine.

Subject: Summit Point

Hello Eric,

I have a 15 year old son who has his WERA expert License...we've never raced with CCS because of the age restrictions.  In reading your rules this year, it appears that with Corey being 15 and having an expert license, he would be able to run a 600 with you.  We are looking to go to Summit Point next week for your event, but I want to make sure everything is OK before I go.  Corey's raced Summit before, so I know the track doesn't have any restrictions, I want to make sure your group would be OK with it.

I look forward to hearing back from you.

Regards,

Jeremy Pupillo.

I would check the rule book for mods that are legal for the different classes.

In addition we do require side covers to prevent oil from being leaked on the track from bikes that have shown to have weaker or more exposed/suspectable generator/starter/clutch/inspection covers fromt he factory.

What would you like him to do?  He's only 15 and still learning...is he not elligible for CCS regionals?  We've been to WERA regionals and he still hasn't won anything.  We're not looking to take anything from anyone....just looking for track time.  We're also not looking to make a bad name for the kid, so let me know what you mean by cherry pic.

hey BRICKMAN, you shouldn't need to worry about it. If he's an "EXPERT" with WERA, he will be racing as an EXPERT with CCS( right Eric? ). It'll be great experience and exposure for him. Remember, it's an ASRA weekend as well as a USGPRU event, so there will be some seriously fast guys there getting some "track time" as well.

I say Good Luck to him, and wave as you lap me! 8)

Correct, he would participate as an expert....we've been around enough to know that you can't race expert with one group and novice with someone else....

I  read about that, but just because someone else did, doesn't mean everyone will.  I'm sure you meant no harm, but I just took it too personal.
