Title: Mountain biking
Post by: bellevuetlr on May 06, 2007, 12:52:51 PM
Does anyone here do mountain biking?  A buddy of mine took me to a mb trail last week and I was instantly hooked.  Very scary at first but a ton of fun once you get used to it.  I was sweating profusely throughout the whole 2 hours that we were out there.  Could be a good way to train for racing no?

What ever is good motivation for you is good for your training.

There have been injuries directly associated with mountain bike riding by top racers.  You've got to be careful.

I love mtn biking! I'm really bad at it, everytime I go I bleed.  It's a fun workout though.

I used to race mountain bikes back in middle school/high school.  Very fun way to get a helluva work out.  Like Supa said, it can be pretty dangerous, but what sport is fun if there was no chance to get hurt??  ;)

Just be careful-there is just as much cool crap you can get for bicycles as motorcycles so it can get just as expensive!

Buy one local-you want a trained person to fit you to a bike.  An ill-fitting bike is as bad as getting the wrong size helmet.  Try to find a shop that has enthusiasts working there.   Plus if you have one shipped to you then you need to build the bike-not that its all that hard but getting everything setup so it works right would be a pain if you didn't know what you were doing.
