BIG FINES!
PLEASE READ!
There's construction all over the place. Keep your money!
I know it's old, but...
I think it was in IN a few years back when I passed through a section that had a COUNT of how many tickets were given out in the construction zone I was entering. 3 days later the count was like 50 higher. It was funny that people didn't take it seriously.
On a side note a few years ago my son made the interesting observation that if you copy a movie they fine you $500,000 but you can kill a road-worker for only $10k.
And More ironically if you murder someone in cold blood you can probably walk in 3-5 years - not the 14 if you kill a worker - I suspect that it is that max. by law but would be very surprised if anyone gets close to that for an unintentional death. I'm still amazed by the number of idiots in large SUVs that pass me at 75mph like on my SV being passed by a liter bike on the straights.
The road work thing is riff with corruption particularly in IL. Add to that the huge number of trucks which apparently will do the same damage as 70,000 cars...
if they have the signs up with the flashing lights that say "speed limit X mph when lights flashing" tell the cop the lights weren't on. he'll give you a warning and go check the lights and stick it to the next guy.
had a buddy in indiana that was a state trooper that told me to do that. but he said that was a sure fire way out of a ticket in a construction zone. it's only ilegal if you do it knowing it was wrong at the time you did it. if you didn't know, they can't get you with it.
Safety First, just another reason while you should wear your helmet with a dark tinted visor when driving through a construction zone.
Let me guess, Illinois road construction is going to increase by 50% this summer.
You could always slow down to the minimum speed limit and drive through there, nothing like backing up traffic for a few miles to make a point.
It is tragic the number of workers that are killed, usually by drunk or medicated and irresponsible drivers, but I have a big problem when government begins using private businesses to photograph and fine people. Both the states and cities are making hefty profits, along with the camera companies that usually recieve well over half the citation profits. It has scam and abuse written all over it. At our police barrack we just got the latest stats for the red light cameras, which show an 80% increase in accidents at camera equipped intersections from all the folks slamming into each other to try and stop, clearly public safety is not at the root, but money is. The last time I was mailed a picture of my bike speeding through a camera, I mailed em a picture of my money 8), Art.
Now if we can get those flatlanders to quit driving like morons on the WI side of I90.
Hey fruitloop in the white IL plated Trailblazer, if you are going 70mph, GET THE FUCK IN THE RIGHT LANE!!!! It doesnt take 5 miles to pass someone.
I'd tell you what I think about driving in Ill but I don't want to get thrown off the forum............
That's it. You will be abosorbed.
I average about 36,000 mi. per year. Reading these posts I realize that, at some point, probably all you people have cussed me out...
I think I remember reading in C&D that more workers are actually killed by their co-workers running over them then civilians.
construction can suck my orange cone!!!!!!

Go for it! a person REALLY has to work to be tossed off this forum... And so long as you're not spamming the forum with pics of "William Hung", you'll be fine... LOL...
besides, I can't really say how I feel... I have to make nice with the public ya know :pop:
let's just say if you got all the ILL drivers together at once the intelligence level in the area would be a negative............
:banghead: This pretty much tells it all about driving in flat land.
What I love about IL is that you have to go 10 mph under the speed limit with a trailer. Makes for a great drive.
What's wrong with Illinois drivers? What is it that we do in your crappy ass state that causes you all to feel this way?

Driving through Chi town in a motor home with a trailer.... We weigh 11,500 empty not including water, gas, trailer, etc. We know what it takes to stop and allow enough distance between us and the person in front only to have yahoo after yahoo pull in front of us and slam on the brakes. Yep, some of those IL drivers like to live dangerously.....
:err:
I'm sure you'd experience the same crap in Milwaukee as I have. That happens in just about every metropolitan area as far as I know.

Everyone is more important than you and "deserves" to cut in line.

Fortunately on 41/45, 894, and 94 south... No we have not. Perhaps were just lucky that way.

beats the bajesus out of these wisconsin drivers. the right lane is 55 mph, the middle lane is 55.25 mph, and the left lane bounses from 54.5 to 55.5 mph. no one understands the idea of having a fast lane and a slow lane.
no chit, i went 10 miles like this on 39. not a car in sight ahead of the three ol' pharts behind the wheel.

They were enjoying the fresh air, warm weather, and sunshine....
It could have been worse - - they could have been doing 40 mph. :lmao:
Dawn
Or you could have been stuck for 10 miles behind a nekkid guy on a motorcycle with his butt crack hanging off the side.
Yep, that would have been worse...
