Well, it's been a couple of months. Seems like an eternity and just a moment all together since I was in Watertown seeing Claudia, Bill Ritger's family, and our extended family of racers, CCS staff and so on.
The race season is upon us, and I'll miss Bill's positive demeanor and smile.
I think maybe it's time to remember him for what he left in our hearts.
Claudia! I'm sure you know that Bill was a special guy. Thank you for sharing him with us. I think we're all honored for that. Looking forward to seeing you this year!
Never met him but donated based on words from Dave and ALL the others- Godspeed to a fellow lover of the sport anyway............
Funny I should come in and see this post. I was out in the garage tonight, putting the numbers on my new bodywork. As I applied the decals, I remembered what Bill used to say on the radio when I would go out to race. His silly saying has followed me everywhere, and I must have heard it a million times.
"Sometimes a racer, sometimes a worker, sometimes debris. It's Chris Onwiler on bike 333."
Standing there alone in the garage, I actually said out loud, "I can't believe Bill's dead."
It just never occured to me that I wouldn't have him as a friend forever.
