Art Lohman and Brian Smith (and another rider I believe) went down in the GTU at Daytona Friday. Art was transported to the hospital with what was believed to be a broken hip. I heard he was doing well and perhaps not as bad at the initial reports but wanted to extended the best wished of the BBS to them. Art is the Mid-Atlantic CCS Chaplin and Brian is part of the Christian Sportbike Racing team along with Art.
If anyone has more information please post it as I haven't been able to get in contact with them.
Well that sucks, I'll say a quick prayer for them!
+1
Thank you guys. Brian and Art are good friends of mine. I hope their doing well along with the third rider.
Art the tall thin guy? I met this dude at thursday practice and he was a true gem. Hope he's ok and same for the rest.

Art is tall and thin but so is Brian and are normally together promoting CSB Racing and encouraging racers. Art is a Maryland State Trooper as well as the CCS MA Chaplin. He rides a 2001 GSX-R 600, number AM 220.
Yep #220 was the guy, I was pitted near him. Sent an email through their website as well maybe he'll see it.
bummer.
best wishes to them.
Prayer said. . .
Heal up quick guys!
Dang Christians tangling it up!
Get well guys!!! You're in our thoughts & prayers.
I talked to Art Sunday morning at the riders meeting
he broke both arms and I think he said his hip was popped out but they popped it back in
he was walking with one arm wrapped up and the other they didn't do much for that type of break. but he was in good spirits
:ahhh: Both arms! What a :kicknuts: That cant be good.
Hope he heals quick.
Anyone heard about Brian or the other rider yet ?
I'm confused....I was there and I saw the Chaplin with one arm in a sling??? but not both?? Is there more then one chaplin?
Never mind...I read closer that the other wasn't in a sling.
His spirits were definitely fine after the get off. :thumb:
I heard Brian broke several bones in his hand but haven't herd much more.
anyone know which corner it was in??? I was in this race and ended up going down in the dirt off of turn one to avoid a multi bike crash during the first lap.
It was in the International Horseshoe hard on the brakes. Lap 2 I believe, they threw a red flag.
I was pitted right next to them in the Nextel garage. Man I was glad to see Art back at the track, he had both arms in slings. Brian broke bones in his right hand. There were so many crashes and red flags :ahhh:.
I would have been pitted there too but one of the other guys and I had a falling out for no good reason. Art, Brian and Bill are good guys. I hope they heal fast so I have someone to actually beat when we race!
That was a great speach he gave at the riders meeting Sunday!!
Heal up quickly guys. :)
I just got off the phone with Art to get the low down. He has two broken arms but neither are required to have a cast at this point. He dislocated his hip but they simply popped it back in place. He thought he was paralyzed because he couldn't move his legs, so he was definately relieved. Brian faired a bit better but did break his wrist and his toe. I'm not sure about Brian, but Art went down doing 100+ going into turn one starting lap two.
Amazingly (actually not if you know Art) he is taking it quite well. He had an opportunity to witness to a guy in the ER who just had a heart attack. The guy asked him to tell him about God. Art's response (to the Man above) was that he would have come to talk to the guy without the ambulance ride!
Art wanted me to let you all know that he is part of a racing ministry that is growing rapidly. We've got 14 guys spread around the country hitting most of the regions serving you guys as best as we know how. He feel's blessed and honored to be there for you guys and plans to be back as soon as he can. All of your prayers for their healing are appreciated.
