Hey Gang,
We have an idea and would like some input from the racers. As many of you know from last year, TrackAddix tried to bring endurance racing to the Great Plains region. A lot of people seemed excited about the idea, but then we had to cancel the series for lack of entries. We would like to try it again, but on a smaller scale.
The TrackAddix GP will be racing at Motorsport Park Hastings (MPH) over Labor Day weekend. If there is enough interest, we are considering holding a 5 hour endurance race on Monday, September 3rd.
This date does not conflict with the Central Roadracing Association (CRA), Motorcycle Roadracing Association (MRA), Central Motorcycle Roadracing Association (CMRA), or the CCS Midwest region schedules. Hopefully we could generate some inter-club interest.
This race would take the whole day and would not have any other support races to help cover costs. Because of this, the entry fee will be fairly steep at around $300-$350 or so per team to cover costs. The more riders you get on your team the cheaper it will be for you individually.
Why Hastings?
1) The safest track in the region for motorcycles
2) Air and electric hookups in pit boxes on hot pit row
3) Numerous openings around the track to retrieve downed bikes without stopping a race
4) More centrally located for racers among the various clubs
So what do you think?
I think I would be up for it...
Come on Deus-lets ride your bike!
I'm down, hell in 6 hours I could do at least two or three laps.
why 5 hours? the proven formula seems to be 2 hours, 4 hours, 6, hours, 8 hours, 12 hours, 24 hours, with a couple of 10 hours thrown in there. I know you guys are out side of the box and all, just curious on why you would settle on 5 hours?
Cuz.....It's Dean. I don't think "outside the box" even begins to describe him, and I mean that is the best possible way..
The #5 has good "karma"! :lmao:
CRA runs a 5 hour race every year as their season finale and everyone loves it.
I did a couple 5 hour races at Hallett and had a blast.
this is a good idea and i could be interested if it wasnt the same weekend as ama road atlanta
what would the purse be?
Endurance racing is a blast and the cheapest racing per lap you can buy. I'd be in for sure....
It sounds like it's going to be tough to break even just running the endurance race on a Monday. I wouldn't expect a purse, but it'd sure be nice to get some Tire contingency??

Definetly some interest? What kind of class structure?
I'd be interested as I have that day off of work :boink:
I'm out eventhough I really like endurance racing. I'm not interested in the wear and tear on my sprint bike. A friend of mine had kept an old sprint bike to do endurance on last year, but they canned it after the first race which was a little frustrating. I don't see a one-off endurance race having much success, but who knows.
Jack,
It was good to meet you at the banquet.
I can't honestly say on an SV, but for a in-line 4 that's stock, 5 hours is nothing. Especially if you don't over-rev it and properly maintain it. My sprint bike in 07 already has a 4 hour endurance race on it, and will probably have some team challenges and maybe an endurance or two on it this year. I'll probably swap out motors in 08. Throwing a bike down once in 5 hours is a concern, but suprisingly enough, there really aren't that many crashes in endurance racing.
It's amazing what the inline 4's can take. We ran 3 hours of a 5 hour endurance race w/o a clutch after the cable broke.
Sorry you can't make it. We'll see you in April..

AMA National? Whatever.......! By that time in the year you`ll be sick of spending four grand a weekend to get your ass kicked and you`ll be back at the ccs regionals!
Oh ye of little faith...
Go get 'em Brian!
c`mon Rob admit it.....when you read that you yelled OHHHH!! NO HE DIDN`T!!!! :kicknuts:
what dates would you want it to be?
i never been there but if the timing is right i would give it a shot
sounds like fun..count me in
I had an F3 that had well over 15k miles on it before we did a season of WERA endurance on it. We did well enough to take 3rd in HWSS nationally in '02. After that I did three more years of sprint racing (15-20 weekends a year) plus instructing with Ed Bargy school (5-10 weekends a year) and it still was fast enough to win two championships in '05.
All we did was change tires, oil and brake pads.
So is this going to happen???
I don't think it's on any schedule.
It would've been fun, but I don't think the turn out would've been there...
