Title: FedEx...anyone else having issues?
Post by: spyderchick on January 19, 2007, 09:56:50 PM
...So in the last 2 weeks I was shipping via FedEx because their rates are somewhat cheaper than UPS, and hey, who doesn't like to save a buck?

Well, fully 75% of those shipments had "delivery exceptions". As a business in the race industry, I find that unacceptable. Especially once we are full into the season, deliveries MUST arrive on time, no 'delivery next business day'.

I apologize to those who received their packages a day or so late. We're going back to Brown, because we did not seem to have these issues with UPS. It will probably cost you $2 extra to go ground, but hey, you'll get it when you are supposed to.

As always, thank you for patronizing our biz.

i use fedx a lot at the company i'm with. it seems to be 1-2 days late quite a bit. but it's not a huge issue with me cause i'm able to leave myself a buffer on most things. but if i need something in a hurry, i go ups and R&L Carriers does really good with big shipments

I cannot in any way, shape or form  allow stuff to be late. I don't care whether you need it today or a month from now. I'm paying for service, and I haven't gotten any from FedSux.  And damage? Not an option. Brown from now on. They are real pros, even if they are a few $$ more. I guess you get what you pay for.

Alexa,

have had nothing but trouble from FedEX --late shipments, damaged goods, wont make good on damage claims and if they do its takes months for PARTIAL payment. Honestly, I have better luck with the fn Post Office.

Hope this helps

Well...I got my leathers within a day or two of when you sent them so I have no complaints.

...and you did a nice job on my leathers.

Thanks!

One set of take-offs sold on E-Bay took 3 weeks to get to Texas with FedEx =ed nightmare with buyer. I switched over to UPS and USPS as they are Union companies that pay their employees a better wage. Have not had a problem since.

PMed ya Alexa

good lookin out Alexa!!

I have relied on things to be delivered to the track, or to be delivered prior to leaving for a race weekend and cant IMAGINE the hostility I would hold towards the carrier if it was sent out on time and not delivered as promised.  I would say the only way I ever ALMOST got stung on that was when buying Armour Bodies for my 02 bike.  Had em being shipped to Rob at Lithium and then he was to bring em to MAM for a 2 day track day.  Well apparently customs held the package and no dice for the track... thankfully Rob had a set of lightly used sharkskins at the shop and brought em along knowing I would be out of luck without em.  Just bolted em right up and ended up buying those instead!

Its nice to have people like Alexa and Rob lookin out for ya, they make it personal!!

Thanks guys

Tim

I use FedEX almost exclusively at the shop and we have had really good luck..  They are a fair bit cheaper than UPS.  I don't know what makes us so special that they don't screw up our stuff lol!

Everyone always says 'Fed Ex is cheaper, DHL Is Cheaper"  How come everytime I plug in the package and compare rates, UPS Is 98 % of the time cheaper?

UPS makes it too easy for me to do business with them.

I ship UPS occasionally, but I have done comparisons between the two.  Basically I think I just get a better discount from fedex than UPS.

I have recently considered switching to Fed Ex because I'm averaging 800.00/week right now with UPS. Even a slight savings per package would make a difference with our shipping volume. This thread has me re-thinking that. Thanks for everyones input.

Do any of you think that all this "weather" might be having an issue? I know it has effected a lot that is going on in the Mid-West area the last few weeks. I have used UPS,Fedex and DHL all were about the same for me. I wonder what thier deal has been lately if you have been having delivery problems.

I'm doing about a quarter of that, but it would have added up to $2000 per year savings, which I pass on to my customers. I'm not taking any more chances. Their customer service was not helpful and almost discourteous in their apathy. I have another biz I deal with that asked her FedEx rep to have the one in this region contact me. That was 10 days ago. Again, unacceptable.

Several of the packages were going to businesses, and they listed an 'exception' during normal business hours? Nope, that shit don't fly, as my Dad would say.

Sorry for the rant,  :preachon:  this one has me really honked off.

Ay my last corporate gig I was sending 5-10 packages a day FedEx, almost all were priority overnight.  I rarely had a problem with that type delivery but when I'd venture into the 2-day, ground, etc. deliveries, I had many problems.

The company I work for ships a lot (we spend on average $2000 a day in shipping - but 90% of that is pre-pay and add). We switched back to UPS because of the service we received from FedEx. With FedEx we had about 30% of our ground or 2-day shipment arrived 12 - 24 hours late.

Well, the nice FedEx lady called this morning to apologize. I told her I appreciate the follow up, but it was a day late and a dime short. (I did not get catty and add "just like FedEx service') although I really, really wanted to.

It really is a shame, because aside from totally revamping the system, there is no fix. They have lazy, uncaring employees. She even admitted that what had happened was unacceptable. I could not imagine working for a company where you handled complaints like mine, because let's face it, what could she do?

I don't know, seven days from Milwaukee to Green Bay isn't so bad....
That's IF they show up today, and I'm not holding my breath.

Tracking says they were "on fedex vehicle for delivery" since Friday. Driver must be REALLY lost.  ::)
