Title: Novice Yellow
Post by: mq105 on January 08, 2007, 07:01:37 PM
This is not a new topic, but one that has recently affected me. Am I the only one who thinks it should take less than 3 minutes to pick and publish a standard yellow for novice plates? There are 7 different yellows at Lowe's, not counting fluorescent. WTF?  :banghead:  I don't care which yellow, just pick it, then let everyone know. Simple. Quick.

Rant over.

I hear you. I went with the "Sunset in the rain next to the river yellow", which one did you end up picking?

its really not that hard. just pick a color that looks yellow, like school bus yellow, or smiley face yellow. Not eggshell yellow, not flourescent yellow, not pee yellow (unless you are very dehydrated ). Just plain ole simple YELLOW. Granted the rule is stupid and a waste of time you have to deal with it. Not to mention if your number plates and numbers are close to perfect tech is a breeze, you dont even have to stop just ride through and theyll look at the number slap a sticker on and away you go.

Ever score a race?
The reason for the rule is to make it easier for the scorers to read your number. Yes, the races are still scored manually in case there is a problem with the computer scoring.

ISTR that the 2007 rule book has examples of what is the correct yellow.

See, that was easy.

To CCS: I vote to adopt John Deere Yellow as the official color for novice plates.

My whole bike was Rustoleum (SP) sunburst yellow last year.  Larry Manner use my bike as an example of the color your number plates should be to another AM who's color was unacceptable.

"pee in the snowbank" yellow was acceptable!!

Speaking of Larry, where can I get a lyrics set for "Fat bottomed girls"?

Can't get my garden veggies straight; Head like a watermelon, knees like squash?

Yes I have. and I did not get confused when a flourecent yellow came down the straightaway, i did not see a different shade of yellow and think, ohh god is that an expert with a very wierd shade of white?. if its not white, then its yellow plain and simple, if you really get confused between yellow and off yellow then something may be wrong. aside from that a big thanks to all of the ccs scorers, they saved my but at Road America when a transponder lost its signal one race, guess what color my plates were, fluorescent YELLOW.

I am reading the 2007 rulebook and it does not give an example of what yellow color to use. Just select any yellow you like. DO not get millenium yellow, it looks too much like canary yellow, which would maybe confuse the colors.  LOL

Why not just do it like MX and have black or white plates..can't really change those shades!

I raced with black plates some time ago.  WERA did that for novices.  CCS had yellow.  Not sure why WERA changed.

Black vinyl numbers and yellow plates were easier to find because of MX.
