can this be run in Supersport class? or do i need to get all the internals changed over to the stocker forks....
the internals dont matter. you can have full blown ohlins superbike internals. however the externals do matter. so if they are not the same as stock then you cant run them as far as I know, im sure someone will come along and straighten it all out.
Ohhhh, and RTFRB !!!!
And if I'm not mistaken, the ZX6R has conventional forks compared to teh ZX6RR's upsidedown forks.
The way I read the rulebook - No it's not a legal in SS - exactly what Ben said.
But....... I don't condone this type of behavior, it's low down dirty, cheating, etc...... :preachon:
You could put them on, and call the bike a zx6rr on the race entry form. But you'd be leaving yourself wide open to a protest.
My question is why would you want out change out the forks?
i found a good deal on some forks, from the same year.. just off of a zx6rr, from searching on some other forums i dont think the cartridge kit from the zx6rr will fit in my zx6r forks..... i could always just race superbike and gp
Should be the same. Both are Kayaba in 03/04. 04's are the only year that the lower legs came DLC coated. 05/06 are both Showa. Valving will be slightly different between them though.
What year bike do you have? 03-04 or 05-06?
The internals are different in the RR's compared to the R model.
The only real difference worth anyone complaining about would be the lower leg sliders on the 04ZX-6RR model has a coating along with the 05-06 model ZX6RR also has a coating on them for smoother action.
The rules allow front fork internals to be modified completely. So changing out the internals is legal between the two models. The only problem is getting around the coating of the lower fork legs of the RR models.
But honestly why would anyone complain about it? I would laugh at someone who decided that they got beat because the RR model forks were on a 636 R model. I mean the 600 is the same bike as the 636. You can race either one in the same class anyways.
And no the forks are both upside down style the only difference is the coating on the fork legs and some internal damping along with different rebound rod diameters.
i thought u were able to coat or polish the forks for smoother action and still be legal. i just want to know if it is legal or not. if its illegal i do not want to do it
If your allowed to coat the forks then I would say it's legal since the part is exactly the same on each bikes it's just the 600RR is coated.
who do i need to talk to find out is this is legal or not?

Eric Kelcher. He's on the board. Or Email Kevin Elliott.
I think it should be legal.
heard back from eric and he said from the description it sounds illegal and only if they are the same part number
