Has anybody heard a date on when the 2007 Rules Book (rough draft) will be ready?
Wait until mid dec. Thats my guess.

Thank you Eric!
Here they are:
1. 1000's (IL4) will not be allowed into F40
2. ASRA will now include Superstock (1000cc IL4)
3. Buell XBRR not allowed in CCS Thunderbike
4. Honda F2's not allowed in LW classes
5. Ultra-Superbike now combined class, EX/AM together
6. Qualifying for Ex SC Unlimited GP is no longer (more practice time across the board)
And there's a few more. Go to:

Does the move thunderbike to f40 mean I can't run my F2 in f40l anymore?
That would be how I read it.
Hey, Eric, I've seen talk about ASRA Superstock, but no specific rules.
Is it basically Unlimited Supersport with a HP limit? Can 750's run? Can twins run? Slicks?

That sucks. So now I have to run it against modern gsxr 750's. Makes sense to me. :wtf:
where in the rule changes does it say "Thunderbikes" were moved from F40 LW to F40? I don't see it...
pretty dumb change if it was done...was the F2 was beating the F40 class in 2006???

yea I got that from Eric's post....guess what I should have wrote is that I didn't even know this was being considered. Seems odd to move the F2 (and other Thunderbikes) into F40...my guess is the guys that used to run the F2 in F40 LW wont run it in F40 due to being up against the newer gen 750's - which will lower the grid size....goes against everything that was mentioned as the reason as not to add the liter bikes to F40.
Ive got an idea, stop trying to make the rules fit your 20 year old race bike. I can barely stand people complaining about sv's and I ride them. If you are getting beat, first off its most likely not because of the bike, and second off buy a new bike how hard is it to understand. Hey ive got a kanatuna 600 down in the basement and it pisses me off that the new gsxr 600 makes double the horsepower and wieghs 50% less, outlaw those damn modern inline fours. :wah: Also, if im not mistaken the fast guys used to run somewhere in the neighborhood of 14's and 15's at blackhawk, so with the new repave and modern tires that should equal out to about the equivalant of 13's. Im going to bet that if you go out there and run 13's you shouldnt have a problem being competive with the majority of riders on modern 600's. if you cant go that fast, and think its because of the bike then buy a new one and stop complaining. have a nice day.

No the Ducati 1000 was.
I understand your dilemma. For the last couple of years I have raced in LW F40 with a 1991 FZR600 and have enjoyed it. I am not sure of the thinking with the move but it seems to go against some of the other comments that people make to not make changes to the rules to make concessions.
As for the 20 year old bike comment. This is club racing and not AMA or even ASRA. Not everyone can go out and afford a brand new bike, race prep it just to be competitive. If I were to compete ASRA it would be a whole different story.
If I want someone to join my club I make concession to the rules. If I dont want them in the club then I will change the rules to keep them out.
Looks as though I may be moving to track days instead of race weekends.
Mark
uh yea...ok....not trying to make any rules fit any bike...just trying to understand the logic behind moving the F2 from F40 LW to F40. But not to bump F40 up to 1000cc's. Not that it even effects me as I'm not 40 and don't run an F2....but why move a bike from a class that it has been able to compete in to one that it may not be?
Paul,
I am with ya man, I just don't see the reasoning but that's the way it is I am told. We as members can only make a request and that's the best we can do.
Mark
Okay, so bear with me as I'm not a LW, Thunderbike or F40 guy, but here's how I read this...
The thunderbike rules allowed for bikes which were seemingly an unfair advantage in LWF40, so the class was bumped up to F40.
Run your F2 in TBike and call it a day, or run it in F40 but know that you won't be competitive against a new 750. The problem on the whole seems to be the TBike class and bikes allowed in it, but there's not a big enough crowd to split that I guess...
There's always AHRMA...
Sorry guys I guess I dropped a bombshell., that was not the intent.
We have not finalized the rules but Thunderbike rule bikes will not be in F40L next year but many of the bikes that ran in TBK will remain in F40L. IE the older 600's should be staying but may be more limited in modifications.

Sportbike rules with these changes: 160hp, 380 lbs, no tire restriction, 1000cc max displacement, (Ducati 1098 is in discussion as it was introduced after the rules commitee meetings)

Thanks for the input Eric....looking forward to the "offical" class structure.
I am anxiously awaiting as this one does affect me in my racing endeavor. As it is my old bike doesn't fit into the supersport rules of F40.
It's kinda funny though, that Karl Loefflers TZ250 doesn't qualify for F40 LW but does for F40, and then he can also run LW GP but my FZR600 is the opposite.
Well we had a meeting and discussed F40L and the Thunderbikes.
Considering it did not have the full review of the rules commitees and time frame we are not making any changes to the F40L eligibile bikes.
CCS Thunderbike rules will still have XB-RR excluded
Eric,
Thanks for the info clarifying the Thunderbike and F40 LW classes. What changes are being considered for change? And will they be considered for the 2008 year?
Mark
Uh oh. Back to original dilemma! Old guy with two F40 bikes that he can't ride at the same time. :whine:
Hey Mark! howzit goin?
Hey Bob,
Doing pretty well now. I expect to see you out there on that old FZR600 and even that GSXR in 2007.
