Just had a quesion on getting the dogs undercut on my transmission.
I have a 01 CBR f4i that I'm getting ready for my first season next year.
Had some issues later this year at track days where I'd get a ton of false neutrals.
I had bought the bike from a guy that raced it.
I decided on getting it done and having it done by a reputible guy.
Just checking to see if any of you have had it done and what you think about it.
I changed the clutch plates, steels, springs, indent arm and star to see if that would help but I was not for sure.
I can do some wrenching on my bike but the transmission is a bit too big for me.
Just the basic stuff I can do.

You're gonna be into a pretty large expense for a pretty old bike...
Assuming you drop the motor and reinstall it yourself, you're probably still looking at $1k or more for the assembly/disassembly work and then the tranny job.
I REALLY wanted an undercut tranny for my old F4 back in the day, but settled for the complete shift kit (spring, detent arm and new index star). The shift kit combined with the knowledge that a straight-cut honda tranny needs FIRM - POSITIVE shifting got me through it.
Would it help your shifting? YOU BET!
Can you get along without it? Absolutely.
Just make EVERY SHIFT an INTENDED SHIFT. Think about it as you shift, and do NOT half-ass shift it. You have to be firm & positive with it.

If you have bent shift forks or worn shift dogs, getting the trans undercut will not solve the problem. Alot of false nuetrals are not normal especially on a Honda Trans.
anybody who reworks the tranny should be inspecting it and requiring worn gears to be replaced (most likely 2nd gear) and you should be putting in new forks as they're cheap to begin with.
Jason, not a slam, but a serious question.. Have you ridden a Honda in the last 5 years? Even a brand new Honda tranny is very easy to hit a false neutral with a weak shift.
