Some of those you listed are not National Champions. ASRA races were going for points towards the national championships, remember .. as well as the Team Challenge.
Definatly some fast guys in Florida. Those Lopez boys were flying.
Also congrats to Rick Shaw on his retirement from racing.
Trophy Girl I listed wins at Daytona. It makes no difference to me whether they won a CCS National Championship, ASRA or Team Challenge, they are all wins at the ROC :spank:!

Well yeah, thats your home track...cmon up to VIR or Summit to some Mid Atlantic tracks ... remember, most you Floridians migrated to Florida from up north :) Congrats
I was expecting to hear "home track advantage" mentioned but please, the Florida riders don't ride it anymore than the other regions. And speaking of "home track advantage", that's all I heard from the "whiners" when the ROC was held at Homestead and what happened, Florida won less races there than at any ROC in recent years. So much for "home track advantage" :whine:!

That was the first time I have ever raced at Daytona and the first time I have seen that configuration.
I rest my case :thumb:!

Not true.
Out of the list you provided, let see how many raced at the "Festival of Speed" at Daytona in March (re: more track time).
MICHEAL BARNES Superbike - Raced at the FoS in March.
MORTEN FREDERIKSEN Am 125 GP - Did not.
HILTON GEARTNER Am Formula 40 - Raced at the FoS in March.
SANTIAGO LOPEZ Am Middle Weight GP - Raced at the FoS in March.
TOMAS LOPEZ Am Middle Weight SuperSport - Raced at the FoS in March.
GEOFF MAY Factory Pro Sportbike - Raced at the FoS in March.
GARRET RICK Am SuperTwins - Raced at the FoS in March.
CHRIS SAMMONS Ex Ultra Light Weight SuperBike - Raced at the FoS in March.
STEVE WENNER Ex 125 GP - Raced at the FoS in March.
SANTIAGO VILLA Team Challenge Solo Challenge- Raced at the FoS in March.
So, out of the 10 racers you listed, 9 have had track time at Daytona. Which at Daytona, means A LOT. Being in that region is an advantage clear and simple, as being from the SW, it's difficult to make the 3000 trip. It was my first time to race there and every lap I took, I learned something. Each race I ran I was faster and faster. Every lap counts when riding Daytona. :ahhh:
That being said, whether you're from Florida or not, it takes a special breed to race Daytona and my hats off to ALL the racers who raced this past weekend. Well done guys! :thumb:
Patrick
(4th in ULGP )
There was a different track configuration during the March race.
Congratulations Sean and Patrick.

Congrats to you Jason! You rode a helluva race on Sunday. I watched you in the LWSB race.
I loved it that you were on a Duc. :thumb:
Well Dryheat you really got me there huh! So only Florida riders raced Daytona in March :wtf:! "Home track advantage" give me a break :whine:. I can think of better excuses than that if I were one to make excuses :banghead:!

And Geoff May lives in Atlanta, Ga. and wasn't on my list. Maybe you'd like us to go back to Homestead for some real "home track advantage"!
HD
Well HD, I stand corrected... Florida riders rule, no question. My bad.
Now that's what I'm talkin about Patrick :kissy:!
HD
And how about Jason Edmonds 5 wins :boink:.
umm ducati 992 vs an SV 650....especialy on a track like daytona....hmm sounds fair....
Umm, if the rulebook doesn't suit you, I suggest that you try to change it. However, at this point it sounds like "sour grapes" :whine:!

I rode a SuperSport legal Ducati in all of the races I entered. Is that fair enough?
Also, a Aprilla 250 finished second in three of the races and a Yamaha 250 finished second in one race. Maybe they too had an unfair advantage?
What brand of motorcycle does Ed Key ride? He doesn't seem to be having to much trouble with his brand of motorcycle at Daytona.
I have been beat by guys on slower motorcycles and I have beaten guys who were riding faster motorcycles. I don't make any excuses when I get beat. The fast guys will be fast on whatever they ride. As racers we are all very competitive and we would rather win than loose. I think are pride is tested every time we race and for whatever reason we want to feel that we can win. Every time I finish a race I know I could have gone faster. There is always room for improvement and that is what keeps me going faster. That and the fact that there are like a kazillion guys faster then me on the track. (Is kazillion a word?)
Nice job Jason-
You cheated!I only ride a 125 :wah:
It was 4 wins in a row by the way, thanks for noticing.Us lightweight guys get no respect!

Steve, you have my respect. To be able to compete on a 125 in GT Lights that is saying something. I look at it as a handicap put on you because you are so fast. I am surprised no one talks about the two strokes being unfair in lightweight. Six out of the top 10 in GP where all on two strokes. Hopefully we can get them kicked out so I have a better chance next year.
Great weekend for you Jason. No - we are not getting rid of the two strokes..... I'll keep running the 125 in LWGP
Morten
Congratulations to you MORTEN FREDERIKSEN Mr. 125 LWGP CHAMPION.
I hope you stick with the 125 I don't need you Adam and Steve kicking my butt with the 250's next year.
I do not buy into the "home track advantage..." But I will chime in and say that the race being held in FL attracts alot more FL region racers than racers from any other region! So that being said.... FL riders would in theory have the best chance of winning races. Make no mistake.. you have to be a fast rider on fast equipment to win at the Daytona ROC. Congrats to all that won national championships!

I had a wopping 13 laps of practice for the team hammer day....only three were hot laps. The rest of the laps were just heading out on the track to pickup the pace...then a red flag. Practice each morning was a joke...we were lucky to get three laps :kicknuts:
There is no doubt that those in Florida or regions close to the track have a home track advantage. But what do I know....I only took the podium twice out of three races :boink:
scottg22, your comments make sense but Stone yours don't :wah:

Stone-
i didn't even get to see the track Thursday :banghead:

How about this....Thursday I was able to get three really good laps the whole day due to crashes/red flags...constantly. The half hour Hammer class didnt help matters out either.
Friday, saturday and Sunday....if you got three laps total to warm up in the morning practice...you were lucky.
and was still able to kick ass!
That just proves that just about anybody with a fast bike can do pretty good at Daytona and there is no "home track advantage" :jerkoff:!
HD
I gotta agree with you about the fast bikes on the banks. But...out of the top five of each of the classes I rode I had the slowest bike. :kicknuts:
Lets face it bud...your florida boys didnt give me much trouble. Home track advantage or not :lmao:
hahaha... only two smites here Stone? I found that amusing!
Curious... what were the lap times like in UNLGP ?
I told ya Stone no "home track advantage" :thumb:

Horrible....56's or something lame like that. I would get past several riders in the infield...only to have them pass me on the banks (I gave up 4 positions on the banks in one lap in the SS race). Then of course they would park it in the chicane and every turn in the infield. I'd pass them again....rinse/repeat. I couldnt get a clean lap...peroid. Label this stuff as excuses. If I had the right package (ie hp, didnt weigh 235lb, and the right gearing and balls)...I would have won the damned races!
Next year I'll be on a 190hp bike...then we will see who gets passed on the banks!!!
