Yes, there were independent photographers there as well as some that sort of "work for" the track.  I will post up contact info for them later today.

For some from track photographers go here http://motorsportsarchives.com/Standard/Login.jsp

leave the fields blank, click connect, select the 2006 misc images, submit.  Then click on the arrows to expand Fall Daytona.

If you guys can help out the other who look, when you find a race you know, PLEASE post what race it was and what page.

I see the Sat. HWT supersport race starts on page 244 and the LWT SS race on like page 241

You didn't click on daytona fall. Do that first, so you drill down to ONLY the Daytona ones, only 369 pages

When you get to the page that shows the 4,000+ 2006 Misc. Images....  look on the left side of the screen.

You'll see:

>2006 Misc Images

  2006 Images

Click the second one, which expands that to a menu containing "Daytona Fall" (second menu choice).

When you click the Daytona Fall listing, you get to the pages for just Daytona.

Question for fotog's...  How come there are so many more pictures of the winners in the catalog, and far, far less of everyone else?

Here's my sarcastic logic: If I were a fotog, and I know I don't take pictures for personal enjoyment, I'd take the kind of pics that would SELL.  So, who buys?  Well, in my opinion, it's usually the other guys, behind the leaders.  Those slower, up-and-coming guys are far less experienced in the field, and are pretty excited to be there, and are hoping someone will emblazon them in picture glory.

Let's just pretend I'm one of those guys.  I don't think I've ever bought a picture of any other rider except me.  I know, kinda smarmy, but hey, I don't care about who won when I'm buying pics.  I just care how cool I look in my pics.

Maybe there's less pics of me since my motor crapped out in the first 20 minutes of the 8-hour event.  Hmmm.

I know our excuse.

The photog sits lap after lap waiting for the riders to arrive and with our small bird like brains we quickly lose track of what we are doing there and wonder if we need anything from the new pottery barn catalogue, just when we are about to become nature photographers we see signs of a horseless single seat carriage heading our way and like a frightened hunter we let lose with a volley of shots and the poor leader of the pack always gets it dead sharp center.

Honestly though, that isn't far from the truth.  Being isolated from the group will get you more photos.  When you have a group of riders in close proximity the photog has to choose who to shoot and if you aren't keeping a mental tab on who you've shot you're likely to shoot the same person over and over every lap.  It's strange and I think it dives into the realms of the sub-conscious and being attracted to certain colors or patterns or something.

We've got to the point where if their is a group of say 5 riders together we can photo 3 of the 5 but than you have to remember next lap to shoot the other 2.

I think it all may be as confusing to write about as do at times.  8)

Awesome answer, awesome.

I like it.

Say, can you try to get maybe a blurred pic of me next time?  I'd even buy that one, even if it was someone else, I could tell my friends it was me as long as there are some colors that look like my bike in it.

Based on your logic, of running alone for a while, there should be a million pics of me in there from the 8 hour race.  I was alone most of the time, except when every single rider in the entire field was blasting past me like they were on fire.  I swear, most, if not all of those bikes were running like they were being chased by the police or something.

Our strategy was flawed, but worth the effort.  We tried to save tires and fuel.  Figured if we waited in the pits long enought we'd be able to skip 8-9 pit stops.

Hi Andy,
Love your work, look for an email from me as I need to purchase a mixed cd of pix.
I hate your website, though. Being computer geeky, but short on time, I both appreciate your cool flash site, but I hate to wait as I cycle through while the code does it's thing. Do you have an html version of your site? Even with the upgraded broadband (now a lighntning 4.7mbps) it takes several seconds to load an image.

Oh, and Russ? They all took pix of you, (in the thong) but it broke the lens and now you're on the "do not photo" list.

Sounds good Alexa.

As for the website.  Well, I think any way you slice it a website that uploads around 3,000 or more photos to be displayed for a weekend is in trouble already.  I'm not sure an HTML sight would perform with any major noticeable difference, a picture gallery that displays things at a reasonable quality is hard to run fast, than multiply it by hundreds of people a day searching and it obviously is going to get bogged down at times.

The advantage for us is; yes it looks nice but more importantly it is fairly easy to build webpages in, easier than I could do in html.  In fact to make the pages for say a CCS event with 150 individual rider pages and a main page searchable by number only takes about 30-45 minutes, which saves us a lot of headaches.

I may revamp the page for the new year and I take all these things into consideration.

Thanks!

I looked thru the pictures and honestly...there's nothing there that my wife didnt get with her camera. I see this time and time again with photographers that shoot many different kinds of races...yet specialize in none. Take the time to talk to some of the racers and get their feedback as to what would be a good shot. Last year I raced as an amateur and this guy was on the money.....  http://www.rsvmille.net/Daytona/Stone/

Thanks for taking the time to listen. I know I have limited time, and may be a special case, because I don't just search for pix of one or two racers, but many of the racers we do work for. Saving time on your end is probably worth it, but I know that there are still some archaics out there still on dial up, and that might discourage them from going through those awesome images.

Keep up the good work!

Thanks, Eric.

Checked both of their sites and can't find any Daytona images for this past weekend.  Maybe their still sitting in the emulsion in the dark room.

Ryan, Wendy, can either of you let us all know if you'll be posting any Daytona images, and when?

God, I so feel like a little kid about this stuff "whaaa whaaa I want my pictures whaa whaaa".

We took some, most of them are our riders but if you look through you may find one.

I was at Daytona shooting photos all day Thursday and Sunday. I also shot the entire MOTO race on Sat. If you want me to search for yours, shoot me an e-mail at imodimages@yahoo with your plate number. If you don't have a plate number (Hammer riders especially) a small photo would help. I was a corner worker Friday T2.

cannonballgsu,
yes, we are from Wisco, and Deni won the F40 Ex on an 05 GSXR 750 #506.

Why do you ask?

Drove to Virginia Beach from Wisco and back in 2 days not long ago to pick up an R1.  We also drove straight through from Daytona ROC, 21 hours.....what an ass kicker.

hope all is well, we did get a few general shots from the Team Hammer day.
If anyone wants hi res, just drop me an email.
