Depends on what you mean by scooter style, like a razor no, step thru yes.
Basically it has to be gas powered ie no electric or people power nor a go ped style.
Yeah, I have one of those Ventos, gas power...you could tag it and put it on the street.

The reason I was told by Daytona staff was it's because of people in the past who were haulin ass thru the pits on bicycles and electric powered stuff that didn't really make any noise and when they came up on people who were walking they had people step right in front of them and actually collide with them because the walkers never heard anything approaching them from behind.
It's always the few who ruin it for everyone else!
You are allowed electric golf carts. So why not electric scooters?

The info I previously posted I found out when I was riding my mountain bike thru the pits in '98 and was stopped by security (and I wasn't going fast). They are the ones who said they could actually confiscate my bike if they wanted to since it's in the rules you get a copy of in your info pack at registration that bicycles are not allowed. As for golf carts, I can't answer why electric ones are allowed when other electric vehicles are not?
As some freindly advice to anyone going to Daytona for the 1st time, I suggest being VERY freindly with the security staff at Daytona, they encounter alot of asshole racers and fans who treat them like crap on a regular basis and when we treat them good they really do appreciate it and will be alot nicer to us as well. It doesn't take more than a few seconds to ask them how their day is going, say Hi, or whatever, but it can make a big difference in how they treat everyone. As an example at Bike Week 2006 I just BS with the guys that were parking everyone in the infield for a minute or two the 1st day I was there and everyday after that they always gave me a great parking space and were freindly to me. Piss them off and they can get you kicked out of the track and get your pass taken away as well for the rest of the event.

Does any one have a copy of the regulations you receive in the info pack concerning pit bikes. I would like to know what is allowed that way we do not bring anything we can't use.
In the past pit bikes had to have your number on the front and could not have tags. I have used my DRZ400S without any problems by just putting a number on the front and taping up the tag. As said before be very nice, ride slow, no wheelies or other tricks and you will get along with security just fine. As a mater of fact when I was leaving in the spring I had one of the guards thank me for the way I rode in the pits.
Yeah I learned that being nice to the old guys helps tremendously. I had one telling Dale Jr. was an asshole which I thought was hilarious.
Yep treat the security guys well,and DO stop and chat with them. They are there to protect all of OUR machines tools, gear. This March I was hauling gear to pit road area, stopped and chatted with a couple of guys that had worked there for many years. They had stories of "famous" drivers that sure surprised me and my perception of them.
