Title: My official retirement post...
Post by: Jeff on September 25, 2006, 04:50:21 PM
CCS Midwest Expert #42 - Jeff Kufalk to retire from the grid

It is with nervous excitement that I am announcing my temporary retirement from CCS Roadracing, to commence following the October 7-8 weekend at Gingerman Raceway (which happens to be my favorite track in the region).

Starting racing in 2000, and running full mid-west seasons from 2001 through present, we have met more great people and accomplished more goals than I ever realized possible.  Racing quickly became our lifestyle and has consumed my mind every waking moment since.

The decision to step aside did not come lightly as roadracing provides me an unparalleled joy in life, and without it what will become of me?  With the announcement of Gordon Lunde retiring the Wegman Benefit Fund, my wife and I thought long and hard about our future and realized that carrying on this legacy would be the best path we could follow, and we were the people to do this.

As President of the new Red Flag Fund, (a non-profit corporation, benefiting injured roadracers across the country) we will actually be at more tracks than our current midwest schedule provides.  I look forward to staying VERY involved in racing and look forward to meeting the thousands of people across the country who we have been in touch with through our websites over the years.

My retirement from full-time racing will also allow for the debut of our daughter on an RS-125 in 125GP classes, as well as providing a bit of time for our son to race MX.  Oddly enough, getting off the bike will actually have us MORE involved in racing than ever before and I look forward to that.

The plan as it sits today will hopefully see me getting on the track a couple of times per year for promoter practices or possibly in team challenge events, and a tentative return to the grid in the future to shoot for a F-40 title.

I would like to take a moment to thank our sponsors, supporters, fans, friends and family for the sacrifices you've made and the incredible amount of generosity you have shown us which helped us live this dream.  You all know who you are and without you, this would not have been possible.

This is not an end by any means, but rather a beginning.  The beginning of a new legacy, a new challenge, a new race; which we will run and WIN.

You'll be involved up to your eyes, Jeff, so it doesn't make you retired...

Thanks guys... it'll be interesting that's for sure.

So let's see...  At the last few auctions we've gotten to see basically naked...

Super Dave - multiple times (I'm beginning to think he likes this)
Mark Stiles - who still hasn't emotionally recovered
Russ Intravartolo - who seemed geniunely disturbed, but did have the best body of the 3.

Why is it we haven't seen Rick Breuer yet?

(oh jesus what did I get myself into?!?!)

Good luck Jeff,

Thanks for your help this weekend and you've always  been great to everyone who need a little help, seems like this fund will be a great fit for you. I'm glad to see that you will still be involved with the community and still be making it to events. I look forward to seeing you in the F40 grids.

Paul

Paul, actually we are the ones to thank YOU!  It's not often when you can approach a relative stranger in the pits and borrow their brand new bike with 30 seconds notice.

See, that's the thing that this is all about for me.  It's the community of it all.  Helping each other.

I know that we can all work together and keep the interest high and be there for those who need us.

So the auction is still gonna be done like it has been in the past?

Good luck Jeff, I am going to miss racing against you... but let me be the first one to say it: "you'll be back". There is no way you can stay away from this addiction.

Wow!

This is a big decision and an even bigger commitment. Filling Mr. Gordon Lunde's shoes is no simple task. We'll miss watching and competing against you. From racing with the Championship Cup Series to CBR600F4.com and CBR600RR.com and everything else, you've made a lot of friends and with that will come a tremendous amount of support. Hope to never need the Red Flag Fund but glad it's available and comfortable that people like yourself are running it.

Wishing you all the best!!!

Thanks Edgar & Michael.

Edgar, this year I really missed racing with you & Johnny Moore as we had some great battles along with Deni too.  It was weird not having you out there this year.  But great seeing you on the grid this weekend!  How'd you do anyhow?  I didn't see you after the 1 board went sideways :lmao:

I wish you all the best Jeff, thanks for taking care of us not only on this board but at the track too.

I sucked. My fastest lap was a 1:15.6! I went almost that fast on my SV! I was going so slow, you could have confused me with K3... In fact, I am thinking about writing a book: "Highside 2 - How to ride like a pussy!"

Actually, I got very little practice on Friday, skipped all of saturday due to the rain and miss sunday morning practice since it was wet again, so nothing like going out there when you have not raced in 11 months and just race...on a brand new bike that was not handling right since it was not dialed in for my needs. But... I got that loving feeling and I am ready to take on next year full bore!!!

I'm sorry to hear that your leaving your passion.  It's great that you'll still be involved in the racing community and it seems your efforts will be well received.  I didn't get a chance to race this season.  I will be out there next year (someone has to be last, why not me.  Thanks for all the info and support you've given to me.  We've traded emails and only met once, but I can tell that your the man for this job.

Congrats and good luck!

What a great guy, that Jeff, aw shucks.  I tanned, toned, shaved, showered, and primped for my appearance that wonderful evening.  It's launched a new career for me in modeling a new line of men's bikini's.

Still a little sore from wearing that thong, backwards.  Alexa was supposed to coach me in it's initial application, but ran from the room when I didn't flinch.

I cannot believe you guys are so ready to drop trou' at a moments notice, but when you know it's coming? Damn, y'all prep like a school girl on prom night!

Good luck with that "Internation Male" photo shoot next week. Rex says you are the best model ever!  :thumb:

Well, since you're such a naughty girl, you can be the next to shave your entire body and model beanies at the next auction. I know that will bring in more money than Dave or Russ.  :lmao:

Alexa, we don't want to start giving everyone NIGHTMARES, LOL!

Besides, who would consider depriving Dave of a job he's shown such dedication and passion for!

Good luck with the fund and hopefully we'll see you back on the track at least for some events

Best of luck with the red flag fund. Lets hope for as much support and success as the wegman fund. I think someone should put you and your family in for the "congressional metal of honor"!  :thumb:

Let my hair grow out...  If I could, I would.  Unfortunately the Skullet isn't the most attractive option though :lmao:

Medal of honor? don't know about that just yet.  I think Gordy still deserves one :thumb:
