Title: MPH/TrackAddix race
Post by: GrecianFormula40 on September 25, 2006, 12:49:37 PM
I gotta say MPH is a awesome, fun and safe track. The pavement had fantastic grip and was silky smooth, definitely built with the motorcycle racer in mind with tons of run-off. Matt Hall was so close but just shy of setting the lap record  and earning the $1000. George (owner) has built one of the best race facilities in the midwest. Lots of power, plenty of room, the shower and bathroom facilities are incredible. The locals were super nice and very appreciative of the racers coming to Hastings. There were signs around town at various businesses welcoming the TrackAddix/CCS racers. It was very cool to have the huge turnout of local spectators on Friday, the Bud hospitality and the Clydesdales definitely attracted a large crowd. It was nice of Dean and George to throw the free racer practice on Friday. Saturday the weather was sketchy all day, cool, windy and a little drizzle, but we managed to get all the practice you wanted. The trackside steak dinner was excellent. Special thanks to the nice waitress at Murphy's for putting up with with us. Once again, Dean did a great job and kept things running smoothly during the Sunday sprints, especially for the very first race weekend at this facility. We could not have asked for better weather on Sunday. And, we actually had a pretty good spectator turnout, I overheard a few telling the track owner how nice and friendly all the racers were for explaining all about our sport. Hope more of the CCS racers can make it out next year, you won't be disappointed. Overall, a great weekend racing with friends, can't wait to race there again.

Agreed   As always, Dean and the rest of Trackaddix did AWESOME!  They keep everything running so smooth.  The staff at MPH was great too, VERY friendly.  The grip on that track is amazing, and so smooth.  It's like putting your knee down on velvet.  Big thanks to Trackaddix, MPH, Nurse Dave and Randy for making it a good weekend. :thumb:

Dean has been telling me for some time about how great Hastings was going to be and yet I was still blown away by what a superb track it is.  Interesting combination of a glass smooth surface with very good grip for being so new.  Nice technical layout, yet fast and flowing.  George's enthusism was readily apparent.  I can't wait to go back there next year.

BTW, have to say something about the town of Hastings.  It's pretty neat to see a community that's supportive of racing rather than completely opposed to any form of motorsports.  The track is right on the edge of town so it's real easy to run down the road for breakfast and everyone seemed to end up at the same restaurant on Saturday night which was great.

For anyone who didn't make it I would strongly reccomend finding some way to get there next year.

Very cool track, I'm still pinching myself expecting to wake up and realize that they didn't actually build such a nice track this close to home!  It's definitely a huge plus for the TrackAddix GP region, next year will be awesome with several races at MPH!  The biggest kudos go to Dean and the TrackAddix crew for not just running another great event, but taking such an active role in the development and construction of this track to make sure it was set up with bikes in mind.  I think there's a little work left to do on the pit in/out, but other than that it was about perfect for bikes.  I especially like the contrast between the very fast back section and the slow middle section, it reminds me a lot of JenningsGP, one of my favorite tracks.

A++++ feedback on Hastings and the Track.  George is so in touch you would think he was Dean's Dad or something.  Not sure if I should even mention this but I think it go's a long way in showing just how serious they are and how much they want Bikes at the Track.

Friday Practise had some issues because of an issue with the sweeper.   Some part of the sweeper came apart and put some small amounts of metal on the track.  Really small but....  One piece got in my tire and just happened to penetrate to the core, needless to say time for a new tire.

George was so upset by it that they are sending me a new tire.  Never asked for it, never complained about it, he just thought it was the right thing to do.

THATS THE KIND OF TRACKS I WANT TO RACE ON.  I can't imagine all the little things they do and think of just to make it easier for the Racers and Crew.

PS.  THE SHOWERS ROCKED, FREE HIGH SPEED WIRELESS, FREE FRIDAY PRACTISE, 24 HOUR ENTRY AND ELECTRIC HOOK (CHEAP).  Hopefully other tracks take notice and work to be this good.

I'd vote for 3 or 4, the track is a great venue both in terms of the actual track (smooth, safe, challenging) and the facilities.  I suppose distance is a concern for the folks farther north/east, but really it's only 2 1/2 hours past MAM, so not nearly as far as Hallett for the MN/WI guys I'd guess, and no farther than Topeka.  I hope after how everyone who made this round has raved about the place that we get more people out there next time!

Diddo on that, it was an awesome facility.  I would be up for 2-3 rounds myself.   From St. Louis is is the farthest track we currently run in the regular Season but like they said its only a hop skip and a jump from MAM, Heck lets do a weekend race at MPH and then a Monday, Tueday race at MAM, a double header weekend, then Wednesday, Thursday at Heartland, ending with a Friday, Saturday at Gateway.

Its all abou the same distance anyway.  So I would save tons of money on Diesel and could run more races.

Put seriously, 2-3 or 4 would be great and a MAM/MPH weekend doesn't seem to crazy as I have my second cup of the day.

Yeah, how about a holiday weekend double header, Friday-Saturday at MPH, Sunday-Monday at MAM. We already have the two-day race schedule anyway.

No where I come from we use Mason Jars?  And we don't call it beer.  I drink it and it works better than U4 in the tank.
