Title: 2003 r6 front end...05 change?
Post by: lucky04 on September 25, 2006, 10:25:54 AM
i currently have a 2003 r6 with gp internals/springs.
i have 2005 forks steering stem triples, everything sitting in my liviing room.

which is better?  i hear that inverted forks(the 05) are suppose to be much better, but i also hear that the frame was to stiff for the inverted forks so you dont get very good feedback.  So should i keep the gp 03 forks, or should i switch out the 05's and put a ak-20 kit in it or someting.  any insight, advice, info, and facts would be great

thanks in advance.

Do you run supersport? If you do, leave the stock forks. Really no reason inverted forks shouldnt work on your bike.

The '03/'04 R6 is a great package.  Sell the '05 forks and buy some more tires or something good.  I use the Techlusion set up for the FI, and I found that was inexpensive and reliable.

http://techlusion.com/

That's what I have in my '03.  It just flat works.  Bike accelerates hard and with feel.

I have this http://www.powercardtuning.com, the Power Card for my '06 R6, and so far I'm really happy.  Easy to install, and easy to work with.

This is a link to the Yamaha section...

I think I like the Power Card a little better.  Same origin of technology, just a new way of applying in the Power Card.

sorry, i think i got a little confused somewhere in there.  I just need to know which would be better, GP suspension 03 front forks or 05 inverted forks with probably an ak-20 kit by traxxion dynamics.  I heard the inverted forks on the 03-05 arent godo cause you dont get very good feedback. i already have fuel and everything else figured out for me, i just need to make a descision on my front forks/suspension

I can't really give you feedback on how an 05 front-end would work on an 03 but I have owned/raced both years.  My 03 front-end just had revalve/spring upgrades - Thermosman.  When I got the 05 I had Thermosman do the 25mm Ohlins kit - wow what a differance!  I'm bassically spoiled now and can't ride anything less.  I don't know if there is a Ohlins kit for the 03 front-end but as mentioned above if you want to run suppersport and be legal I think (and don't hold me to it) you'll need to keep the original front-end.
